My favorite thing about the Farsight Enclave is that they're basically the Good Guys, but in a way that still fits 40k. Their Goodness is balanced by their smallness. Sure, they're Good(ish) but they're too small to achieve anything meaningful by that universe's standards. I love it.

The sisters are like a fan favourite, Mechanicus is so weird and goofy kinda like the orks which is why I love them, the inquisition is insane and has a million personal stories, but I really, really want you guys to do the assasins! Honestly I always really liked the tau. Even though personally I find the orks hilarious in a lot of ways I think Warhammer 40k needed something like the tau in a lot of respects. If only talking about the fact that a lot of imperial systems defect to the tau because while the tau are by no means good people, you don't have to worry that that inquisitor over there is going to glass your entire hive city because they think you gave them a funny look. I do like the imperium but sometimes the over the top-ness just gets a bit much for me and having a faction that's kinda aware how over the top the setting can be is kinda refreshing. That and mechs are cool

Gotta agree with you on Farsight vs Gulliman, Farsight is fundamentally mortal, at least before the weird Chaos/C'tan Blade, Gulliman is **baseline** so far above mortal that he can't even really be called human. Primarchs are Warp-Forged weapons made by an eons old Warlord explicitly to conquer the galaxy, t'au just don't have an equivalent yet. If I had to put Farsight on par with an Imperial, I'd say its fairer to match him up against Yarrick or Creed, someone human but extraordinary.

The Greater Good was always a kind of colonial “we’re taking over for your own good,” rather than an altruistic we’re all in this together. Also that Trial by Fire really reminds me of the Kobayashi Maru scenario from star trek. Which makes double sense seeing tau as a kind of evil version of starfleet.

Yeah good times. The Tau thought titans were propaganda because theres no way anyone would be that wasteful, they then found out titans were in fact not propaganda, and then after a short stupor they glued massive railguns to the tigershark in a move that proved effective enough to have the mechanicus demand total air superiority before allowing titans to be deployed. Think the Taunar got developed somewhere along the line but Tigershark is probably more effective.
