Have you ever seen the left vs right thermal graphic? It's basically how much care each give to the in-group vs out group. So the right would carenthe most about family, friends, nation, etcnuntil we get to the rest of the universe, caring the least for the latter. The left was the opposite, caring more about, for example, global warming rather than their families living in poverty and in danger.

Having Presentism mindset, the viewing of history through arrogant modern thinking. Which is a big mistake. For example if you judge romans or vikings for killing so many people and call them monsterous humans. You clearly don’t know that all of humanity and nations in those times was like that and there was nations worse than romans. It’s just that the romans and vikings was good at what they did. While also that people in those times viewed death and living completely different to how we do today.

@lukkaredwolf353413 сағат бұрын
@ashardalondragnipurake 'nids are all part of the hive minds, and as such cannot make individual decisions to be good, and only follow their nature to consume. I'm not saying that Nids are specifically evil, especially when referring to the lower caste of Nids that are barely even a flicker of sapience, but the Ogryn actually try to be good, despite their lack of cranial capacity to think about it in more abstract thoughts. Also, just closing off the warp does not eliminate it, just the access at that point. Chaos is more than capable of sneaking around in areas where it can find gaps. Also, except for Hive Fleet Kronos, the Nids don't have any real species wide specialization to deal with Chaos, as far as I remember.

One remark on your "was leaving colonies alone really an option", I'm not sure why you didn't just arch back to your prior point, namely, the Imperium had a knowledge of chaos far beyond that of anyone else, he knew how to fight them, he knew how to protect humanity from them, in that context, leaving human colonies alone would've been as nonsensical as leaving xeno empires alone. On that point, I've come to believe that whether they realized it or not, the writers of the horus heresy made it so that alien species could in fact live under the Imperium, specifically as long as they didn't mingle with humans, and were never, and I do mean absolutely never, aggressive towad humans. To establish this, I would refer to three things : 1) in horus rising, in the interex part, it is made mention between members of the mournival that they have indeed negotiated with aliens before 2) in fulgrim, the imperial strategists urged Fulgrim to make Laeran a xenos protectorate given the projected high cost of taking the planet. Now fulgrim refused, but that idea wouldn't have been proposed to begin with if there wasn't some sort of precedent, and finally 3) there is a precedent, namely the adarnians (if I'm not mistaken on the name), which were a xeno race that was part of exactly one such protectorate. People try to argue that the Imperium is responsible for their disappearance, but that is false, as the character that mentions them also mentions that there's an official death penalty for those caught consuming the serum made from them and that led to their disparition. Of note, he doesn't think the threat is nonexistent (like if it was just a fake policy to keep up appearances), but instead doesn't care because he is at the end of his rope and if it's not that then it's nothing and that's not something he can tolerate.

@@ThePontiusGlaw69 Hhmm, don't know if I somehow never sent the comment or if it was deleted or filtered for whatever reason, but I wanted to thank you and add to your point on satire that there's one more thing that ought be mentioned about 40k and the topic of satire, which is that whatever one wants to think about its current state, from everything I could find stemming from the original authors of 40k (so primarily Rick priestley and people working on the end of 1st edition and 2nd/3rd with him), it wasn't supposed to be a satire. Humor had a place, but not to mock or criticize any kind of IRL beliefs. In fact, he explicitly stated 1) that he was trying to make something utterly horrible but driven by necessity (that specific phrasing was about the Emperor's diet of psykers, but he said similar things about the imperium as a whole), 2) that he wasn't trying to mock religion (when asked about whether or not the imperium was an indictement of religion). Furthermore, it is easy to find in RT and the realm of the lost and the damned (both of which combined gave us easily 90% of the foundation for modern 40k ; god emperor, chaos gods, heresy, etc) explicitly out of universe sections that directly addressed the reader and tell him that the informations contained within the sections in question aren't actually known, widely if at all, in the universe of 40k, and that they are being shared only for the purpose of allowing players to better understand the universe. Amongst those, you have for example the fact that the Emperor is the only one to really know how bad chaos is, that humanity was indeed subjugated by a myriad of aliens and chaos worshippers during the age of strife, and that his message during the GC was actually very popular with the humans he went around freeing, talking about the GC era as one of hope and prosperity (so him and the early imperium weren't described as a deluded authoritarian/oppressive regime as they tend to be framed as by much of the fanbase today, but at worst as the product of a truly enlightened despot). That said, I am curious as to where you got the info that aliens and humans were in an alliance during the DAoT, and that they subsequently betrayed humanity at the onset of the age of strife, that's not really what I find.

@nathanjora7627Күн бұрын
@@ThePontiusGlaw69 You have, and of the sources I could consult none of them mention anything about a xeno-human alliance, or a specific backstabbing of humans. The closest it gets to that is in page 25 (not 24) of black crusade rulebook, where it's mentioned that during the age of strife xenos descended upon humanity, which yeah I'm aware of, but doesn't show they used to be allied, let alone friends, and the screenshot at 11:41 that also doesn't say they were allied, let alone that the ones that descended upon humans were their ex-allies. Also is that screenshot from imperium magazine ? I don't have that one nor could I find it online. Sorry if I'm being annoying with the level of autism, I just like things to be as clear cut as possible, not that it ends up being useful that often, 9/10 you can literally cite something proving your point verbatim and people will just answe with "nuh hu" anyway, but I'd rather still have the 1/10 than giving them the opportunity to say "well uh that's not exactly what it says so there, you're wrong".

Correct me if wrong, weren't chaos gods actually dormant before being awakened one after another(khorne first(crusades), nurgle(black death), tzeentch(forgot when), then slaanesh(as told)? Dark eldar...if there is a race or faction one can truly call evil, it is them(as least if you read their old codices). Anyone with any degree of media literacy has been pushing for the author's death since the advent of post-modernism.

the best way to describe chaos is that its symbols and names are radiatioactive, and knowledge instill a small speck of radioactive material within you, the more you know, the more radioactive stuff you have in you and the quicker it 'kills' you imagine if talking about covid could infect you infact, theres a movie of similar premise called Pontypool certain words, which ones are unknown, can drive people to madness, insanity and psychopathy and death much like how chaos works

You guys did a great job to ground the 40k universe in the realities of the lore. There has been too much memeafication of the lore (Looking at you AR and TTS). I think the current phase of the lore being "GrimHope" also leads to a lot of misconceptions of the grim struggles the IOM finds itself in even with the Primarchs returning.

The tragedy of 40k the way I see it is how one bad action spirals out of control. I saw one theory as to why the Emperor rushed the conquest of the galaxy was that he had a feeling of "Beyond this point, I can't see the future, so I must act quick", but if anything, species such as the Interrex would have been a great addition to the Imperium as Allies. If the Imperium at least treated other human factions more like the Tau does, it would have been better. There was a quote I don't recall exactly, but more or less that "The fact that Einstein existed is not nearly as high of a feeling as the sadness that dozens of people who might have been just as smart died in medieval wars, sweatshops, or circumstances". For me, 40k takes this idea too far many times, seeing how incompetence is so wide-spread is the tragedy that takes it too far for me, that is why I struggle at times to enjoy anything that isn't space marine stuff and Eisenhorn, why? Because at least Eisenhorn has that sense of "bigger than life", so life's little tragedies doesn't happen to him or his closest. If only the mechanicus wasn't filled with people who are as selfish as Necrons when it comes to hoarding knowledge, if only the imperial guard did have some form of oversight and demoting people to a competent level, if only, if only, if only......

The Human Federation in DAOT before 40k was literally the Tau, but better. The problem is the bad things that had led to it failing. If you put the Tau through the same set of hardships the Federation had, it'll be no wonder they'll turn sour faster than they're going right now.

Aaah, Listening to all this 40k reading, I really want to get back into the audiobooks! There are constantly new, but, honestly it can be hard to know which books are worthwhile and not. Recently I listened to the first book of Ragnar Blackmane and I don't actually recall anything about the book, a really bad sign to me at least. And with you even catching the radio static at 18:30? Quality... So much quality!

Good and bad are relative terms we invented, to determine what or who beneficial to "us" and nothing else. They mean nothing in the end. What you call a good person, might be a ch!ld m0lester secretly, or what you call bad can be an animal rescuer. You only judge them based on their stance towards you. If you are just looking who is more "popular" you are doing it wrong.

@@ThePontiusGlaw69 going off of this you said in the video you have an idea about why the men of iron rebelled, now I have not read any books for 40k but a conclusion that seems very valid to me is that it was caused by the C’tan more specifically the void dragon. Which if I am further correct is the same C’tan the the emperor fought on mars and the ommnisiah (I spelled that wrong) that the mechanicus worship. Sorry for the long paragraph.
@ThePontiusGlaw69Күн бұрын
@@BrodyGallegos Not really part of my theory, my explanation on it is more a disconnect between humans and AIs created by a specific part of the lore that could have caused the rebellion, you will see when I get to it.
@maximuspraetoria7480Күн бұрын
@@ThePontiusGlaw69 in my opinion, the reason the men of iron rebelled was caused by many things: xeno interference; chaos corruption (i Remember being stated that the men of iron started developing weak souls during the DAOT, and we know quite a lot of examples of chaos daot technologies, most notable the castigator Titan) and so on.

Sad to see older designs go, but I respect your decision. I like to think these new redesigns are just costumes you guys have to wear due to copyright reasons, but once the video is done you simply take off said costumes, and go back to your older selfs. As for the video itself it was once again another great and informative material that makes me crave for more, and dwelve deeper into the lore. Definetely I'm looking forward for your next video.

I seen some say it would be cool if in the near future of the narrative, the Emperor himself did ascend to a kind of godhood on a power similar level of the chaos gods. Could that actually happen? Can a god-like being come from a mortal? Or can they only be birthed into existence via immense excess of emotions or negativity (or similar)?

very good video. had some friends asking about the dark age of technology, this is a good segment summary for it. and we really do need people to understand morality is determined not by our views, but the views of those living in that world that said, one question for ya danny. Tau arent a good race true. but what about the Farsight enclaves? They are isolationist, so don't have the same expansionism conflict with the imperium. and imperium seems fine with them being there as a bulkhead to the main tau and some ork empires.
