Lots of useful tips here! The plugin related key commands and plugin folder customisation ones are going to be particularly useful in my case. I also noticed that once the plug-in selection list is open, you can easily navigate it with the keyboard, e.g. hit 'R' to open the Reverb group, then navigate the list with cursor keys and finally enter/return to load the selected plugin, it makes the plugin selection process much faster. If only there was a key command to open the plug in list on the selected track, then one wouldn't even need to move the mouse to add a new plugin to a track.

Excellent video. I think one small point you sort of miss about the Freeze track functionality: namely, that it, in essence, temporarily renders the track, which frees up CPU by not running plugins etc on the fly. This used to matter a lot more in the bad old days when CPUs and drives had a harder time of keeping up.

I wasn't aware of the the chase MIDI feature! I'm making a lot of ambient/drone music and individual chords sometimes last very long so I'm wasting a lot of time just rewinding back to the beginning and sometimes that solution might not even work, given that some songs have interweaving rhythms where there is no clear loop with a beginning to rewind to.

Brilliant video, will utilise the majority of these tips from now on!!! A question though..... in ableton when you are searching through loops while your track is playing, the loop is automatically played in time at the start of section. Why doesn’t logic do this ? is there a hidden option to enable? Or am I just a complete and utter idiot and don’t have a clue what I’m doing 😂
@EchoSoundWorks3 жыл бұрын
Hey Ben! You're not an idiot haha. Logic doesn't do this. You know those little files that ableton makes for every audio file it plays? That what allows it do things like this. As much as I love Logic, the browser in pales in comparison to Ableton's.

MIND BLOWN! #5 will help me so much with mashups! Often the track i want to mash has the chords I need but they're in a different progression. sometimes it works, but if it's a harmonized vox, it usually doesn't. Sometimes i can move chords around and it'll be ok, but if the track is more complex then the rhythm gets thrown off. i can't wait to try this!
