420cc Go Kart Top Speed | Our New Fastest Build! | TYRANIS EP41

After removing the governor from Big Bob's 420cc Predator engine, we figured it was time to lock in his official top speed. This is specifically testing top speed for, Stage 1 and our offroad oriented 7:1 gear ratio. I plan on swapping to a 6:1 ratio and maybe even 5:1 in a future video to show the impact of gearing on top speed and low end performance.

Man that's a beautiful buggy! Some really nice fab work. Hey I know this is an old video but maybe you have air in your brake lines. Might bleed em a few times and get rid of that hard pedal. If you get your self a good 360 camera you can get those same overhead shots without using a drone....the insta 360 is a nice affordable 4K 360. Or the fusion but that’s super expensive

For the light bar, does the charge amperage of the 420 keep up with the demand of the lights? Seems like most light bars are 10 amps and max 420 is 4 amps with 2 coils. I see in a later video you add an alternator? Maybe you're manually charging the battery when it's sitting in the garage?

Bleed your brakes again and they will stop on a dime...air doesn’t compress like hydraulic fluid does and it will cause the petal to feel soft and won’t stop well. You could have bled them once already and not got all the air out. Remember with those little master cylinders just do 2-3 pumps then bleed, same thing as when you do a clutch. Best bet is to get a vacuum bleeder and never have to pump again and you can use It on your vehicles too. Great video

Thank you! You're totally right. I did vacuum bleed them but I just ran out of fluid 😅 I should really get shorter lines too... There's a loop in it right now that I think is catching air.

What kind of belt wheel do you have that's on the engine if you have a link or where to get it because I was thinking about getting the same engine and I have a similar frame and everyone else has I think it's called a torque converter but I don't know

It's funny but every kart I kart I build tops out at 47. The only difference is how fast they get there.

Your torque converter needs changed. Your top speed will be the same regardless of hp and cc because top speed is a combination of gearing and rpm. And typically most go kart engines are about 3600rmp and if you are reusing the same torque converter this would explain you getting the same top speed results while increasing torque throughout the rpm band. All your power is being added as torque not top speed.

@@aresarthur6503 There were no governors in any of my builds. They were all vastly different. Off road, side by side buggy, street, race, 212s and 420s modded in different ways, clutches and TCs. They always toped out just below 50 which is actually a perfect speed. They aren't designed to go that fast.

Thanks man! These 420s still have a ton of room. They are still stage 1 so internals and valve springs would mean more power and higher rpm. Also gearing is a huge deal. I'm making an in depth video on it at some point!

I up jetted with the stage 1 kit, but only after removing the governor did is start without choke. I think it's most the gov holding it back, not fuel.

It comes down to mostly gearing. We have a giant 72tooth sprocket that gives us tons of low end torque for crawling/climbing stuff at the expense of top speed. I'll make a gear ratio video soon!
