Due to a mistake I made, I had to edit out a mistake I said about rocker arm ratios rather than to spread misinformation for 10 years on KZbin.

Great teaching Rick, I can't stop watching your Hemi builds. How can you be reached, I'm now relocated and my engine builder is 1600 miles away.

Bringing the pushrod in closer increases the rocker ratio, moving it back will decrease it.
@rickseeman56797 ай бұрын
Yes, I got that backwards. I blew it. I was reading the Stage V document on how to tell a 1.6 from a 1.7 and without looking at the physics was thinking they were saying the other way. Don't you hate it when you do something that makes you look stupid? Thanks for pointing that out. And thanks for watching.

I have the Stage V rockers and Edelbrock head and I have solved the pushrod clearance problem with the proper lifter height

I enjoyed the video and the information provided. You have a good instructional voice as well. I have a BMP Aluminum 4.5" bore Hemi block and a set of newest Edlebrock heads here at the shop ready for a 540ci planned build. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on rocker oiling for a street application. The Ray Barton rocker system ($$$) has unique oiling provision to keep the valve-train cool and happy, reducing the likelihood of broken springs etc. Have you or anyone you personally know have any experience with successfully running the Stage V rocker system on the street without premature wear or failures due to insufficient oiling etc?
@rickseeman56797 ай бұрын
I have used Ray's rocker arm setup, but it was on a drag car. Everyone likes it. I have heard many people say they have run them on the street with no problems. I think Ray built around 300 crate motors, which are intended for the street, and I believe they all used his rocker system. So the history is there. I try to build the simplest motors. Stock rocker arrangement, flat tappet cams, etc. It just makes it easier for me. I have never built a Bill Mitchell block. They look good to me. Todd Marsh has built several. Call him and chat for advise. Marsh Performance 336-283-0800. He told he not to use Cometic head gaskets on one. Something about a water leak. Thanks for watching.

I didn't really answer your question about the Stage V rockers. The Stage V rockers have been used in every conceivable application and have worked well. I don't think you have anything to worry about with them.

Good day, Realy liked the attention to detail in your builds. Question - Will a 4.750 crankshaft get enough clearance in a standered cam location Block. I have a Indy Max Aluminum block standerd cam location that that i would realy like to make into a 605 CI. Is this just a dream or am i better off keeping it a 572 Ci. Thanks for your insite Charlie
@rickseeman56794 ай бұрын
I haven't gone over 4.5 stroke but I believe other have done 4.75 with aftermarket steel rods. You would want to check with others though to be sure. I would definitely keep the 572. That's way too much trouble to get 33 cu inches. Thanks for watching.

What are your thoughts about the stage v exhaust rockers not having oil to the rocker?
@rickseeman56797 ай бұрын
I assume you mean to the roller tip. (They have the normal oiling to the shaft and pushrod cup.) I guess their line of thinking on that is the exhaust rocker tip is in the bottom of the valve cover when it's on the engine and being constantly rained on by a flood of oil from the intake rockers. When you see those videos of engines running with clear valve covers it looks like a blizzard in there. Their rocker arms have been used in every application and have held up well so I guess they are right. Thanks for watching.

Ok I totally missed that the valve was rotated more "upright" for valve to valve clearance during overlap. Thank you.
