You know one solution I thought of for the rear view, is setting up a rear facing camera on the roof, that feeds to a rear view monitor in the place a regular one is. I know Gingium put one in the mid-engine eclipse, that appeared to be a kit that could be installed with relative ease. Congratulations on the first drive, thing sounds as mean as a late model dirt track car

Just a tip on using that clutch. We use them in our asphalt round track race cars. You just have to let out of it all at once, there’s no easing it out or it’ll choke down like you did a few times. Just a little helpful tip for the future

When I turned 16 my grandpa got me a mint 92 Z-28 drop top that had been sitting in a garage for 10 years. The back plastic had weather aged and was opaque. He refused to fix it and I couldn't afford it. His logic was, "you need to learn to use your side mirrors." I hated it. Eventually I got used to it and it helped me so much with hitching up to trailers and to be hyper aware when reversing.

With your clutch feeling/operation, you could try altering the pedal ratio a bit to see if there's improvement to be had and you can also program into the ECU some anti-stall parameters. I have a highly strung 4ag turbo with a really light flywheel and an OS twinplate and experienced similar symptoms in the beginning until I dialed it in. First drives are always stressful but it's all part of weeding the issues.

Fitting a larger bore master cylinder on the clutch will bring the biting point up. Typical start size for a clutch is 0.70" so I'd give a 0.75" or 0.8" a try.

He can adjust it at the transmission to be fully engaged a little earlier so he doesn't have to push it all the way to the floor but a positive stop behind the petal will need to be installed if not he can damage the hydraulic system or the clutch itself by going to far. To this though it's important to be sure it's fully disengaged when the petal is released. If not he will be smoking the clutch the whole time while in gear.

Double check your front rotor and make sure they’re on the correct side. The fins looked backwards
@jontoad
@jontoad 2 жыл бұрын
The internal vane direction is what matters for heat dissipation. if you look close at like 13:57 they are correct. it is common for external slots to run opposite of how the internal vanes are. it's the same on my hellcat rotors. external slot direction doesn't matter.
@donar5554
@donar5554 2 жыл бұрын
@@jontoad I’ll glad you timestamped so I didn’t. What you’re saying still makes no sense to me because “internal veins” still need air, and the air would definitely glide right over in the position its in. Those fins are meant to grab air and how they are positioned rn is for them to work clockwise. The wheels/rotors will be spinning counterclockwise for like 95% of the time. So I hope Taylor catches it before it causes any problems
@noobFab

That would seem to be the case - for direction of rotation I would think they should be acting like little cups and pulling air into the center of the rotor?

I used to deal with the same thing of the clutch being an on/off switch with my 7.25" Quarter Master but found that Tilton makes an inline flow control valve that works amazing. I can now drive my car in traffic and it is worlds better now. its a Tilton 90-5000 part that has 3 options for the flow back into the reservoir. I use this in an autocross application so It should be fine for your use as well.

It’s been said but for our drag cars we get a cheap rear view camera with monitor off of Amazon and wire it up to the the reverse lights so when they come on the camera comes on and we can see. For your use you could leave it on constantly or put it on a switch to turn it on. The screens are usually 4in or so so they can go on the dash or in the dash and be out of the way. And the cameras work well enough in the dark to see. We do some street stuff and track stuff.

One thing to try if the PAS doesn't live up to expectation is adding a PWM controller so you can control the speed of the pump. In their original configuration these types of pump run at different speeds with car speed and steering wheel angle. Not possible here unless you know the CAN inputs needed but adding a speed controller and a variable rheostat would allow you to adjust it to a fixed setting to your liking. Also has the advantage of being able to turn it up to max when manouvering around in the pits etc. I have that setup on my race car but with a fully electric column which I know doesn't work well for drifting.

HEY WITH THE GRIP TAPE. You will need to move your heels around quite a bit, so use some of the extra grip tape you don't use to sand down the grip tape on the floor plate. Fresh grip is super grippy and doing that really helps calm that down, so your shoes don't stick and tear up as quickly.

What your experiencing with the small diameter clutch is pretty much normal. They seem to work out well for road racers and roundly round racers where they don’t do a lot of starts or stops. They usually suck for stop and go driving. A good stock size dual disc clutch would probably have a much softer clutch engagement and give good clutch lockup and great clutch life.

This is sooo awesome! I think too something is up with the tune or some sensor. throttle shouldnt modulate that much. Regardign the small clutch, i think Aasbo struggled with the same thing and they ended up raising the idle alot to minimize the possibility of stalling it. Just something to try if you want to.

It still amazes me that you're not using a drive by wire throttle, it also amazes me how great the build has evolved like a caterpillar into a butterfly, before long you will have her sideways in practice, keep up the great work ethic and we will see you all in the next vid

For some reason he seems to be vehemently against drive by wire. Has stated in the past that he thinks it’s too unreliable
