@@lockpickinglawyer Dear mr. LPL id like to hear your advice please, is this 26 better than the discus 25 ? I wonder if the pins key make the 25 safer?
@johnsuarez1404 Жыл бұрын
@@lockpickinglawyer I like it too but the hollow design on the smaller one (I use a 20/70) is good for my hard bicycle trunk because it saved weight. Perhaps they could launch a separate reinforced series. I'm not sure it's necessary though because if it's not already strong enough maybe you ought to go with something higher end

I broke down and bought one before I saw your video on this lock. When I saw the open laminations I figured that I had received a cheap knockoff. Thank you for clearing that up. And thank you for what you do❤

The Abus Diskus are pretty common here in Europe. The drag is also noticeable on my Abus 24/90. (The 24/90 is nearly identical to the 26/90 sold 15 years ago.)
@lockpickinglawyer7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing your experiences on core drag... the diskus is pretty common here as well, but not the 90mm variant. All we see is the 70mm locks.
@caleschley4 жыл бұрын
Being that the shackle is so much further away from the core radially than the normal variants, I imagine some of the resistance would be due to the torque increase. The laminations may also be snugged up against the shackle.

The 70's are definitely the most common. I sometimes see the 80mm Master 40M, and the Abus 20/80 in use, but I don't recall ever seeing a 90mm disc lock in the wild. I only have 2 in my collection... this and the Godrej 90mm Duralock (with 14 pin core).

I think, I can understand why there is drag on the core. The core actually moves the ring, so they are both connected somehow. If you were to detach them, the ring may move freely.

Might make sense for locking my bike up at home but I'm not sure I want to take it riding...but maybe. It's interesting that the space for chain isn't much bigger than the smaller lock! Can I ask you what % of locks are bypassed by picking? I'm thinking 99% of criminals can only pick their nose and so physical security is way more Important.

I think a lot of criminals can pick locks that are easy to pick honestly so I think the pick resistance is maybe just as important as the physical strength of the lock honestly but the lock picking lawyer would know better than I do and could answer better than I do but the pick resistance is extremely important!

We used these on our jobsite trailers. They are tough! Each one had scars from people trying to break them open. All they had to do was have two little tools. LOL If i remember correctly each one of ours dragged a bit as well. Made it easy to break the key if you were to rough.

So out of all these different discus type locks do you still recommend the Abus 20/70 and Abus 20/80 above and beyond everything else or not? And where would the rank the Paclock 1000 Pro among the hierarchy as well as this Abus 26/90 where would it fit among the top recommended discus locks according to you just curious? And thanks for all the videos you make because people really do appreciate these types of videos because everyone wants to secure their property yet most locks are basically worthless sadly because they're so easy to pick so everyone wants something that is much harder to pick but is also a more durable lock physically.
