Ahh, there's just something about 90's sports cars...love them!

Things I learned from racing the 1G DSM over the years is this: First and foremost, before any mod build your transmission to the teeth and get a quality clutch and adjust the hydraulics properly! You do that and you've taken care of 90% of DSM issues, then you can have a very fun, VERY fast AWD car to absolutely destroy most things on the street.

This one was super fun to watch! Thanks Matt! The 2nd Gen Talon (2G) and Eclipse were always my favourite cars growing up. I know they are heavy lugs, but the body is just beautiful!

I changed the transmission on a 93 eclipse with my buddy. We took a bunch of adderall and made it happen. It went well, minus some seized bolts. Then, not even a month later, he blew up the engine due to a major oil leak hahahaha fun car though. RIP. Ps my grandma had a 91 eclipse gsx like this one. Those seat belts tripped me out as a kid.

1990 Talon TSI AWD with swapped red top 4G63, big 16G turbo, 4 bolt rear end....former owner from 10 years ago checking in. DSM- driver slash mechanic. When my car ran, it devastated all...but it ran good about once a month. The rest of the time I was in the constant process of fixing something. Leaking transfer case, boost leaks, clutch, oil cooler lines, turbo banjo bolts, injectors and fuel pump, rattling and leaking sunroof. Still, for 1990 Talon/Laser/Eclipse cars were ground breaking, with "free" mods they dusted almost every domestic car from their time period. Driver focused cockpit and very slick factory transmission were definitely a huge bonus.

All stock it was sick fast. They had that cat showroom quality almost factory kept til 08 when a cousin in law backed over it in aunts driveway. Insurance totalled it. I was stupid pissed off. I wanted it. They were given 2k for it. Mom was sick. She loved it. Ever see a at the time 67 year old bark in third....that was her. The car could climb super fast on 0 to 60 but pulled from 55 with a 3rd gear drop up to 7k. Stupid fast. RIP.

Super clean 1G! I owned a 1G Talon about 3 years ago and it was an absolute mess. You gotta be really picky when purchasing a DSM. The 4G63, in bad hands, is a money pit to work on. However, if you get a good motor, like this one, and you build is accordingly, it will reward you. Hitting boost in a 4G63 is one of the greatest things I've ever felt and it's definitely an experience every car enthusiast should feel. It's insane.

I miss my 20g/E85 1990 Talon. It leaked oil, didn't like to start, and would randomly die on me but there was no car on the planet I would rather have been driving at the time. Ate my brothers 2006 CTS-V on the highway. It had 186k on the motor at the time. I was planning on getting it prepped for road course duty when it was totaled on an icy night in a highway collision with an out of control SUV driver. I was soo pissed I cried. I'm 37 years old with a well paying job and if I ever find another clean 1g, wife be damned, I'm getting it. I've owned Evos, WRXs, a mazdaspeed and a few Audis and nothing comes close to the experience of driving a clean 1g.

Southern California back-roads are always nice. Most people use the freeway network leaving behind many of the old transit roads that are nearly deserted. There are also usually not a lot of driveways. I remember when I was a delivery driver running late because I got lost, so I took one of these roads in East San Diego county between 60-80 in an E-150 van. I probably will never do that again.
