I think a very important, or rather a few important notes here would be: 1) Mitsubishi Motors is NOT even a part of the Mitsubishi Group's core. Mitsubishi Motors is a small part of Mitsubishi and was formerly a subsidiary under Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. 2) Mitsubishi Motor's change from "passion" cars to more practical ones have actually boosted their business revenues and is a very strong brand outside of N. America. In many places, Mitsubishi often rivals Toyota. So, downfall? Hardly. Mitsubishi is primarily a financial, heavy machinery, mining, energy, electrical, and defense industries that makes cars on the sidelines.

probably the same thing as every other manufacturer. all these car enthusiasts say "omg what a great car... can't wait to buy it after 10 years in the second hand market." and combine that with the fact that these sportier cars are sold far less often, you get an overall stupid financial decision for manufacturers to make "cool" cars. not to mention the ongoing trend of older people typically being the only demographic with enough money to buy cars and what's the deal with older people? they don't want a low riding, stiffer than rocks suspension, extreme NVH sports car. they want something more quiet, comfortable, easy to use so why should manufacturers cater to a minority? they go out all their way to make a car that enthusiasts like, only to find out that they complain about anything and everything, and only 10-20% of this demographic actually has money to buy the car to begin with...
@Jumbojet7762 ай бұрын
I mean, I'd say it's more of a socioeconomic problem that car enthusiasts in their 20s - 30s can't afford sports cars new. How many of those younger enthusiasts do you know who can justify dropping 30, 40, 50k or even more on a new car? It's just sad...
@no1washerezz2 ай бұрын

Exactly they expect Mitsubishi to make costly cars that sell in low volumes , even though the company was struggling financially. It's not very realistic. Truly a great first car even if I couldn't go all out like a true JDM nerd. I always wanted a 2G, 3Gs were meh, EVOs and 350Z were out of the price range, so when the 4G came around I was going into my freshman year in high school and I couldn't be happier when I got one used my junior year (in part thanks to my dad and a job at Coldstone). There's some truly great modded 4Gs out there and there was a turbo kit I was interested in for awhile. The wheel wells were notoriously high up so it benefited from a lowered stance. Most body kits were too gaudy, but others really made the 4G light up like you're playing a Midnight Club or N4S game. It was never as agile as a Miata or as powerful as a 350Z but it was a great cruiser. It had its niche and I was a proud to have hit the 10 year mark with many memories in that car like first kisses, friends, road trips around the US, etc.
