I LOVE my 2018 STI. But like a broken record, I wish it would’ve evolved more. When the STI came out in ‘04 300 HP was a big number for the price. An ‘04 mustang GT had 260hp. However, the 2020 mustang GT has 460 hp, it’s had a 200 hp bump in 16 years. The STI went from 296 to 310 In the last 16 years. I really like my car and it super fun and engaging to drive through the twisties. Love the manual trans and hydraulic steering and awesome brakes. But the STI used to be fast, and it’s not fast anymore. I have high hopes for the 2021 though.

Great set-up. Nice to see someone who believes in functionality over performance. 👍 Take the 86/BRZ. It is not an underpowered car. It was designed with the power it has for a reason. Those who say it needs more power, are those who can’t push the car in stock form. Having more power doesn’t make you a better driver. Just like putting an optic on your rifle over iron sights doesn’t make you a better shooter.

@Cobradaddy4 жыл бұрын
@@imdabeast100 The ''need'' is not what it's about, it's about power and consistent power. You can get a extra 10-15 hp from a intercooler change, in any form, but, if you know these cars then you know where the turbo sits. Turbos make heat and bigger ones make more heat. Taking the intercooler from under the hood and putting it in the front will almost eliminate all heat soak. Your car will be able to keep making that HP as you drive instead of losing it to the heat. That being said, I prefer the top mount, and will probably just upgrade that instead of going front mount.

@MrDjvas4 жыл бұрын
How often do you use that 400 though? I know a guy with a stage 1 iag block in a 2005 STI with a 3.5 dom turbo pushing 600WHP with e85 and to be honest hes at 67k on the current block BUT he barely uses that 600whp only when he feels like it, which is like 3 times a month. The rest of the time hes just cruising. He also does 100 miles a day too. I'm just curious because I have an 04 sti and I bought a stage 2 block from iag because I had planned at one point to push 450whp on 93 and wanted to be somewhat safe about it.
@cokemachine625904 жыл бұрын
MrDjvas People chase hp numbers just for bragging rights really. You’re right, a lot of the time people rarely use their hp. Once you get to a certain level of fast, the only place you can use your car to its true potential is at a track. So unless you have a track nearby that you plan on visiting often and don’t want to risk trouble with law enforcement, funneling money into making your car faster is not really worth it.

WesternSTi unfortunately no video 😔my friends told me the same thing that I should of recorded the whole swap however the process took me roughly 30hours of labor using 2 lifts to have the two cars side by side. But thanks

You can tell when someone gives a Real shit when they focus on the important things of making a car fast, and not just "big numbers". Balancing the car correctly is FAR more important than just jamming a bunch of HP into it.

I think after having two...you're putting your money in the wrong place. Leave them stock and enjoy what they do. Mod them and they become ticking time bombs.

I wouldn't say stock, but I'd say light mods.
@channkrp4 жыл бұрын
WhatIWant I’d say stock and service regularly. Everyone’s got a different version of lightly modified. Some people say a COBB OTS tune, TGV deletes, exhaust to help them breathe, etc. It’s a poor platform for modification.

woweye GG 450whp stock block for 3 years doesn’t sound like a ticking time bomb to me.
@channkrp4 жыл бұрын
Yohan lo that’s like getting upset if a 2jz or k series motor goes kaput before the 200k mark. More often than not they’re long lasting/reliable but every so often you get an outlier. Modified turbocharged Subarus are the opposite. If you spend enough time in the community, you’ll see guys who drop 25k+ into these builds and put them up for sale before they’re barely broken in. Why? Ticking time bombs.

Sad that you have to build the motor just to make 450hp, but hey, anything for that rumble amirite 😂
@TTime6854 жыл бұрын
There's ones out there running 400-430whp on the stock motor... but the cast pistons are a bit weak from factory, so if your tune is shit they don't hold up long. Boxer engines are sensitive to AFRs so a good tune and regular maintaince are a must if you want the stock components to last as long as possible. Most people suck with Subarus and don't know what they're doing when it comes to mods or tuning..

@@TTime685 right that's the thing, ej's are kinda like rotaries, you really have to take care of em and get a good tune to make them reliable, where as something like a 2jz, you can just slap on a big turbo on a stock motor and make 500+
