So I have about 150TB worth of U.2 drives I'm testing...I think they need to go in an F16 ;)

I’m still interested in the 45 drives pi server. A lot of people I know are interested in it as well. When will 45drives look into it?

I'd love to see a HL version of this even though going all flash is still an upgrade that's pretty far off for me. Would love to be able to get my hands on chassis+ PSU though.

This would be cool to have a work for doing backups and testing some VMs/Containers!

Is there a reason why you are not using the LSI P411W-32P, which would give you even more throughput?
@cje7004Ай бұрын
would I be right in thinking this could drive 8x NVME drives? therefore reduce the number of HBAs in this F16 system from 4 down to 2? how does it give it more throughput?

Possibly because the firmware for them is awful and causes huge amounts of issues. You can find a thread filled with agony about this card on the level1techs forums. Most likely though its because it supports sas, sata, u.2, and u.3 through the same backplane, as it is an HBA rather than a pcie switch. They also have no need for a pcie switch with the amount of lanes needed, and do not require any lane switching. If they wanted to go the route of the switch card, they could have instead gone straight from the board for far cheaper and at much higher speeds with no reliability issues.

than 16x61,44TB would make you moan, and the solidigm anounced 122,88TB version of their p5336 that should launch any day now would rip through your pants :-D the 61,44 is around for approx 9200 euro per piece with VAT, for the 122,88TB there are no price recommendations yet

@byrd203Ай бұрын
what about making a motherboard that has a slot for the 16 drive bay riser slot that card goes in then the riser card attaches to the drive cage drive cage just slots into that card boom power and data no cables do that with everything only cable would be from motherboard to powersupply one cable for it all or a group boundle that you can put in a area that can be only for cables no more cables
