That was a no brainer. I figured it out as soon as the ''paper'' was torn from calendar. Plus when clue on whereabouts of knife. Don't know why it took others so long ....

This ‘CARRY ON SLEUTHING’ comedy episode is TERRIBLE!!! Why did they change a successful format? The only good thing about it is Paul Darrow’s spectacles which look terrific!

It was a bit weird seeing Norman Bowler in this episode (Mr Patrick) as he'd been a guest panellist in a previous episode. But this one was easy...March 17th is St Patricks Day ergo Mr Patrick is the murderer. To be fair I don't usually solve these so early in the piece but this one was a dead giveaway...no pun intended. 😊

Yes, it would have been better if the 17th had ultimately been a red herring. Or could have worked if they’d had the victim tear out a few pages in March, 15-17 March so we’d have to choose between the 15th (Ides of March meaning the husband) or 17th (St Patrick’s Day meaning Patrick) or dates within in the Pisces sign (meaning Miss Fish) or just pages from a calendar (Miss Calendar). We also needed more characters with believable motives. Overall with the simplicity and the cringeworthy camp tone it’s my least favourite episode.

@@domshaheen7356 Your suggestions are good ones and would have worked better for sure. I'm in two minds about the comedy element in this episode... but ultimately would rather keep the 'realism' I think. But blimey if I thought seeing Norman Bowler as both panellist and actor was confusing...I just saw an episode where the guy who had once been the show's host was a guest panellist, Edward Woodward who'd once been a panellist as the new host, and the future host Jon Pertwee as a panellist. 😳🥴

@@janethammond5925Have you seen Before Your Very Eyes, the one from earlier this season with the magician? Bowler's in that as well! They disguised him well so I spent the whole episode wondering if it was really him but the credits say it is!

Wow, I think there were episodes where they played it up for laughs, that made it feel like the later LWT show End of Part One. However, I know why they did that, to break the monotony.
