Excellent video 👍👍👍👍I am sure that the snap is for the newer type transmission shaft. When they get the age they are it's usually more than likely that they get to be a mix of age of parts when stuff fails most people put in what is easy to find from a salvage yard that makes repairs a whole bunch of problems. The blower motor pack comes out of the top put in the upgraded one with 4 wires that uses a single switch not the failure prone tandem switch I have upgraded many 30 series and early 40 series John Deere tractors they use a resistor instead of splitting the power between the 2 blowers like the tandem switch does. I knew you had a problem when the white smoke started coming out of the breather I had that happen many years ago on a 671 Detroit diesel power unit I had to change flywheel for a different hand clutch and I thought I had the right flywheel until I went to start it and it seemed tight when it did start the smoke came rolling out i shut it down and let the bell housing bolts loose and it popped back about a quarter of a inch yet it went together nicely.

Well boys, you could throw you hands up in frustration but sometimes you just have to sit quietly over a couple of beers and nut out the problems. I know it was disappointing but in truth you should be well pleased you got it figured before you broke another block and filled that sump up with metal. hope you have more luck with your project tractors. Will be a good tractor again for a good number of years. Hats off to you boys.

Seen that on big trucks. A mack uses a throwout bearing with a snap ring. An international uses one without. Same bearing just no snap ring. The people who built it before i looked at it did it wrong and it dang near screwed the crank out the front of the block. The trust bearing were also in the oil pan. Good looking tractor. Need one of those electric fridges in it if they make one that fits.

Nick, you’ll need a big shop vacuum when you raise the cab lid, you’ll be able to reclaim enough good Saskatchewan topsoil to cover any barren hill top. Yes you have to take a metal lid off the roof to gain access to the blower motors 👍🏼

Man that sucks nothing worst then to find a nothing problem right on stay up but look at it this way stillest you found it now I'm the shop than it out I'm the feild,! Also how is the little one doing? I hope she is doing heal and hope her a fast recovery, there's nothing worse than it to happen to a little kid and I pray she will be able to heal mentally and will still be alright with dogs! For me the hardest part is to get them to be able to be back to normal around them especially since there's so many now days, imo that's the hardest part of the recovery is the mental aspect compared tke the physical side of it.

A trick my vocational instructor showed me once was to use a dial torque wrench and spin the crankshaft when installing main or rod caps after torqueing them down. That way you would know if one was too loose or too tight clearance wise. Of course what happened with you guys here was before the fact. It sucks to have to work on something that has been worked on previously by someone else. I used to work in the car business as a tech so trust me I know, LOL.
