Fascinating islands. I first discovered them in September 2001 ... I started in Gozo and immediately fell in love. Then, on my third day, 9/11 unfolded and I was glad to be so far away from the USA. I am from Canada. I've been back twice since then and am overdue to return - hopefully very soon.

Just my opinion: I visited Malta 20 times between 1982 - 2000, but when I returned in 2015 I was heartbroken to see & feel the drastic changes caused since joining the European Union. Best way I can describe it - Malta's soul has been sold to the highest bidders. I feel for the Maltese people.

Your video is a great tribute to our islands. Thank you. However there are some false reports, and miss-pronunciations. Ggantija on Gozo is pronounced with the G like giant. G-ZG-ANT-I-YA. Meaning "Giant's Tower". In addition, Popeye's Village was constructed in 1980, not 1970. AND the one you saw is a replica. The original burned to the ground. Overall, wonderful vid..wish you would have stuck to more history than fame, but....ALSO - one could NEVER possibly see Malta in the time frame you say. However, glad you came. GRAZZI

With my family I have happy memories of around eleven consecutive holidays in Malta. would love to spend around three months there, and really explore. I even considered moving there, and gaining employment. But, to do this, I had to prove to the authorities that no-one on island could do job I was applying for. The Prime Minister of the time had a "strangle hold" on the economy, he would not even allow the import of new cars,.The only cars seen for years were MOT failures, bought in UK and shipped over to Malta. An example of this was the ancient buses operating from Valletta, again, these were an additional tourist attraction. I was sad to see, on my last visit that the "Pop Eye Village" attraction had become somewhat dilapidated.

Went in 1998. Toured the whole island and Gozo by hiring a car. There was nobody around, had the place to ourselves as everyone seemed to just stay in their hotels by the pool, which is such a shame as they missed out on everything. The food was gorgeous and, of course, back then it was pre euro so dirt cheap. Going back next month. Can't wait.

no there is no longer a day ticket. a two hour ticket now costs €2 in summer and €1.50 in winter. or you can buy a 7 day unlimited pass for €21 or a 12 single journey card for €15. Also, ARRIVA are no longer the operator here as was shown in the video, the Maltese operation experienced unsolvable problems and thus the parent company ordered an early exit and handed back the operation to the government. From January 2014 a new company was formed to take over called Malta Public Transport which was then reprivatised in 2015, followed by a reboot and relaunch of the bus system which included the hugely revised new fare structure.

Apart from mispronouncing Pastizzi, Valletta, Dgħajsa, Gozo & Ġgantija... quite a decent documentary. To note, the people may be friendly during the first 48 hours, but then you will have the pleasure of experiencing the manipulation and exploitation that is prevalant in 75% of the population.
