I’m so incredibly sick of 911 operators having attitudes and being lazy when it comes to life or death situations. This is a job that requires utmost professionalism, patience and empathy. None of these people had any of that. Better training is essential. I wonder how many murders or horrible crimes get twisted because of their incompetence.

There are already a lot comments about the incompetence and failures of the 911 dispatchers, and the stunning greed and entitlement of the killer goes without saying, but also noteworthy is the press’s irresponsible reporting in the early days of this case. Every city needs to require emergency operators to have training at least twice a year. Usually they're hearing from people on one of the worst days of their lives and the last thing they need is someone incompetent with a bad attitude that doesn't understand urgency. 🤬 I'm so sick of this happening time after time especially in situations where time is of the essence. 😡

I think they need more guidelines for these 911 dispatch positions. I was told by someone close that being a 911 dispatcher job was extremely difficult for them.. I can only imagine the emotional impact that some calls could have, especially calls of immediate danger, life threatening or calls involving children. I think this position should be taken much more seriously & maybe have some sort of systematic training, testing or certification. Then It should be well paid position & ensure counseling is available anytime needed. I have heard some dispatchers be heroic and help save lives & those callers could be promoted to continued education and training. This position is crucial & can save lives… I really feel more needs to be done IMO

These stories are so sad but it's amazing what their families are doing! I wish there had been a program when I was in high school so I could have realized how toxic my bf at the time was! I tried breaking up w/ him several times & he would always threaten that he was going to end his own life. If anyone reading this is in that situation, hear me loud & clear-do not let anyone use that manipulation tactic to keep you in a relationship!!! You can tell their family & friends that those statements were made when you broke up with them & let them help their family member, but it is not on you! It is not your responsibility to stay w/ them so they don't do it. Also, for teens, if you are worried about a friend in an abusive/toxic relationship talk to them, tell them it's not ok what's happening, & if they aren't listening, go to their parents/family & tell them you are concerned! I didn't realize how bad the situation was until I was out of it. It's very easy to be blinded by the control & manipulation

So poorly edited and drawn own it almost feels like exploitation by 48 hours. Information constantly repeated through the episodes and rabbit hole after rabbit hole. ABC made a lot of money on this case. Now to the case. Really the only thing that needs to be clarified is that Carlos was NOT calling Fairfax County 911 - hence the problem. Since he was in Dallas he was calling police and fire non-emergency numbers and getting a lot of back and forth. Like the lady first said, if he had hung up, called 911 from HIS area that would have given dispatchers the ability to activate emergency services in MacLean immediately. It's just how the system works. He wasn't talking to "dispatchers" he was talking to police officers after hours in their administration building who are not set up to handle emergencies and they are not able to transfer to 911 because 911 always wants original phone information and that doesn't happen when a call is transferred. That's why you always hear "hang up and dial 911." You have to contact them directly. It might sound petty but Carlos was getting the right advice. If he had just "hung up and dialed 911" everything would have happened immediately but 48 hours' lazy reporting missed this important detail.

TLDR, you know this is several separate episodes that they combined into one upload, right?
