I've always liked and ridden nothing but mountain bikes, so when all this fixie stuff started i decided to buy a fixie looking mtb with no suspension, changed the seat, handle bars, gears, removed the derailer, brakes, and finally paint it a nice dark red color, it turned out great, has a nice fixie vibe but still keeps the big knoby tyres.

Your blaming fitness on age. I remember when I was younger people my age did the same thing as I smash their records. Your muscles reach full development at 42. Your testosterone doesn't naturally reduce until 55-65. 49:14 is for 26mph average, on a Cinelli like pictured that's only 275 watts for a typical rider. Hills matter way more than age fitness or any other excuse
@knarf_on_a_bike Жыл бұрын
@Ben Braceletspurple it's not a fitness thing, it's a knee thing. I used to ride 53 / 16 when I started on a fixed gear around 1997. I gradually went smaller each time I bought a new ring or cog, and honestly, my knees kept telling me that smaller is better for the type of riding I was doing (bike messenger). I'm 66 now and I'm a bit slower than 20 years ago, but I hold my own. 😉

This was cool to watch. Rode BMX most of my life, up into my early 20's. Im 35 now, about 3 years ago I started riding BMX again. Ended up getting into different types of riding. Just grabbed my first fixie a few weeks ago and it has been non stop since then. Wish I would have gotten a fixed gear a long time ago. Best thing I did was getting back on a bike 3 years ago. Nice video, respect from Cleveland, Ohio.

That's some pretty seriously tall fixie chain-gain for your area of the country! I'm in NH and pushing just 42/16 (then again I have my daughter in a seat on the back and lowrider panniers in the front). Thinking of going to 46/16 now that my legs are returning after a few un42n8 years off the saddle. A pothole claimed my #8 incisor in 4th grade (on a bmx bike) and I've had root canal, braces, and ultimately now a bridge. I hate potholes.

16t for doing tricks is manageable but pretty tiring especially with a 49t chainring. I've been riding 49/16 for almost a year and it was a really great street/city ratio and pretty quick.

@josuemejia76416 жыл бұрын
For the shots of him riding his bike on the street, I was driving and shooting at the same time, so all the shots had Daniel on the left side. So I just got bored of him being on the left side of the street, and mirrored the shot. It was such a small shot though, so I'm kind of impressed you noticed!

it was the crank/chainwheel, seeing it on the left threw me for a loop lol

Presumably to give the appearance that he is observing traffic laws (riding on the right - LOL). edit: And definitely ionceateapinecone, that was pretty observant... Was it the business side of the bike being wrong, or the backwards stop sign that was your clue?

Daniel Mejia, it depends to be honest some parts of ny are just up hills and down hills but not as brolic as in San Francisco’s. Since some parts are flats we usually ride 46-15/16 or 48-15/16/17
@Daniel__Something6 жыл бұрын
Thats crazy to me cause one of the more common ratios I've seen is 48/17 out here. Aside from my 49/14 on my cinelli, i also ride a 46/16 on a cheap steel felt that i just got recently and that is easy on the uphills but the flats feel too slow sometimes. ill be spinning out of my mind too haha. I guess its all just preference too tho
