I'm old enough that my racer friends and I would ride a fixie during the pre-season because the Euro pros did it and it was supposed to develop that fluid pedal stroke that none of us actually had (and weren't going to get with low gearing in the 42/23 range). I still ride a track bike on the rollers occasionally and have a steel road bike converted to fixed because you gotta love the feel of it.

I'm still riding track bikes, I was also a messenger for 4 years and it was the time when I had the best time. You were on the bike all day and I was really strong. now I softened and I have forgotten something ... I think I will continue to take it more often, the feeling of riding a track bike has no words, it is pure magic to ride with it and feel the bike on your feet knowing that you control the bike and not her to you. Thanks for your videos, I really enjoy watching them! 🙆🏻♂️👌🏻

2008 Masi Speciale Fixed My first road bike after decades on MTB's. Commuted to campus on it where I teach till 2017. It's on the forth set of wheels and I lost track of how many drivetrains. I finally decided I was going to honor my wife's wishes and bought a bike that has gears, and more importantly to her, brakes. Lugged Bridgestone converted with parts I had laying around. I needed a cruiser for campus that I didn't care if it got lifted. Ends up I really like the way the thing rides and looks. I call it the punk rock fixie. So even though I've only got like a hundo in it I would hate to loose it!

That’s a beautiful machine. I bought a Merlin frame in 1989 and said it would be the last bike I ever buy. So when I wanted a fixed gear I had to convert. Thanks to White Industries ENO eccentric hub, I was able to build this into my favorite bike ever. Put on 3000 miles this year and once was I tempted to flip to the freewheel side. I do have brakes though. Campy skeleton calipers with campy carbon levers. Need them for all the descents here in Marin. Thanks for the inspiring and entertaining channel!

Armadillos are the best!! Beats out gator skins every time for me personally. Forever grateful for track bikes for introducing me into cycling itself. Workin as a messenger out of Boston for 3 years now. Riding a GT GTB. Made out of 7005 aluminum providing a mostly stiff and responsive ride. Which I have learned to enjoy, at first I thought the aluminum was too harsh but then I realized I appreciate a stiff bike. Built up with mostly Japanese parts. Suntour superbe hubs, araya wheel set, sugino 75s, nitto drops, full mks pedal setup toeclips and double straps. Ideal setup for me. Still in the market for a flavorful vintage steel frame, one day :) But lovin the track bike content, I don’t believe there is enough of it out there in the world! Keep up great work with videos and I hope 2020 is a good year for you, the channel and everyone watching along w me

My track bike is a 1980's French thing that I have borrowed from a club member for the season. It has a 78 deg head tube angle with crazy toe overlap on my size 48 road shoes. It only gets ridden indoors at the forestcityvelodrome. 138m per lap and 55 deg banked corners! I ride a Marin Muirwoods fixed(38/16) to the track on 700x47 Ventures just the tool for winter. Oh yes, it is the Rasta tricolour paint job.

Midwest checking in...2/3 of my bikes are track bikes because there’s no need for gears out here. Both are steel frames set up for gravel. One is a Schwinn Le Tour conversion with flat bars and 700x35 Gravelking SKs. The other is a generic track frame with drop bars and 700x28 Gravelking slicks. I actually run them with a freewheel more frequently than fixed because that’s just what I like.

My “track“ bike is my daily driver. I have to say that for normal every day riding, a bike with a Fixed Gear is the most fun. I have put the word track in exclamation marks because i run wide 32c tires and a 710 mm wide Mountainbike bar. It is build on a steel track/fixed gear frame from the berlin based brand 8Bar. They have great bikes and frames. I ride on not so expensive Mavic rims laced to novatech hubs wheels, but i am waiting for a new wheelset with Halo rims and BLB hubs. Im going to test if i can fit some 33mm Cyclocross tires and ride some OffRoad. But for that i still have my dedicated Cyclocross/Gravel bike. Also i always run at least one brake on my fixed gear because on my way back home from school i dont want to die doing hillbombs. Greetings from Germany

Closest thing I’ve had to a track bike is a bmx with just the coaster hub brake when I was a kid. Epic bike for super long brake skids. Those were always the challenge with my friends at the time. That and who could jump the farthest on the big ramps we made in the local forest. Can still remember the pain of my mom picking gravel out of my thigh with tweezers.....wait how old was I then...? Oh snap that was 34 years ago. Great now I feel old again! Thanks for the trip down memory lane

I don’t own a trackbike. I own 2 bikes. A 12-speed gravelbike with a SRAM AXS mullet setup (single speed 10-50 cassette and 44 chainring) that can handle 622-47 or 584-52 tires and off course, just because it’s possible, custom colors to match my Apidura bags. Second bike is an 11-speed SRAM Etap red semi-gravel bike that I use for the fast stuff. In the front a compact 50-34 chainring and a 11-32 cassette. Both bikes completely self-build. 5 different wheelsets that make it easy to switch. I perfected 2 bikes to fit all my riding styles and all the different terrain options I need. Instead of wanting to own a lot off bikes that are all together less perfect individually. :-)

I saw some dude doing track stand tricks under a streetlight in Tucson and knew I wanted to start riding. Started on a state bike equivalent and moved up to a Leader 721 frame, velocity wheels, alloy stem/seat post, nitto bullhorns, flat pedals with Burro straps, and Selle Italia saddle. Unfortunately, I didn’t know bike fitting was a thing yet and absolutely trashed my knees. That’s probably the only thing I would have changed based on my budget at the time. Fuck, I’d be so much faster now if I’d taken care of myself then lol. I’ve still got the no handed trackstand/riding backwards down when I ride a friend’s bike, though.
