Cowherd used to have good commentary, but he seems to be slipping. I was listening to a biography on Bill Cowher, he says that each year a NFL football signs new players and drafts players to replace those that retire or leave and in training camp the coach and his team will try to build a playoff team. Every team has to juggle issues with the roster and age. Cowher makes it sound like this is new and it is not.

The key difference being that Purdy has already made 2 NFC Championships and a SuperBowl on his rookie deal which is more than Dak did even when he wasn't yet paid. People think paying a QB closes the window when it ain't true. It just makes the room for errors in the draft smaller. Brock Purdy is clearly a franchise QB and he has shown he is good in the playoffs. Paying him should likely be a no brainer.

Let's say Purdy takes the 9ers to the Superbowl next year and wins it. Then instead of 50+ million/year, they offer him 20 million. Maybe Purdy would accept the contract knowing that money would be available to maintain the team's championship status. That precedent would then deflate the contracts paid to franchise-level QBs as well as other positions in the future. It might even help lower ticket prices so your family of 4 could attend a game without having to take out a second mortgage. I know, just a naive and wishful fantasy.

This is why I don't often listen to Colin. He's getting old and stuck in his way of thinking. This is not a popular platform anymore. It's too white bread. It's not Hip-Hop enough. And it is not accurate enough. The 49ers are fine. 53 million cap wise ... they have advanced to the SuperBowl twice.....won 2 NFL Championships...3 NFC West Championships...the organization is doing fine. And most sports analysts and critics will telling you and the stats will show the 49ers Defense is the primary reason they have accomplished all those feats, including a very effective running game. Colin once again doesn't know what the f**ck he's talking about. Or does he? He doesn't like Kyle Shanahan or the owner of the 49ers. And it is pretty evident between Nick Wright & Colin Herd that there have been harsh words exchanged between the parties. Here's a possible take, but who knows. I know Caleb's mom owned/ran/maybe still has a nail salon. I believe any nail painting is kind of a tribute to his Mom from what I remember hearing. Caleb has supported the USC Women's hoops team since he got to USC, has given them gifts, etc. Probably has supported the men's team as well. The pink phone cover could have just been something like he gave the players and he was just showing his support by using the same product. I think if he was always sporting a pink phone, we would have heard about it before.
