The San Francisco 49ers play the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship, and 49ers TE George Kittle praised his QB Brock Purdy for getting to the NFC Championship in both years as a starter. Nick Wright, Chris Broussard, Kevin Wildes, and Greg Jennings debate what Purdy can prove with a win, and if the 49ers are on upset alert.

With all due respect, you guys aren't arguing the merits of actual QB play when you compare Lamar, Mahomes and Allen against Purdy's play throughout this season. Every argument Nick has presented and that to some extent Broussard has agreed with, is that you all seem to equate "Elite" with a quality that has nothing to do with QB play fundamentally, and everything associated only with your jobs as members of the media: So let me simplify what you're really saying: Brock Purdy is a good QB, even puts up MVP caliber numbers. No argument. But what he is NOT, and the aforementioned Top 3 are: is ENTERTAINING! You want an entertaining QB. Not just one who executes. It's not that you execute, it's HOW you execute. Got it. Also, Nick....you attempted to say elsewhere that Mahomes going through Purdy in a SB after everyone else he went through to get there was like Mike Tyson's Punch Out if the Final Boss were Glass Joe instead of Tyson... You still haven't figured out Purdy's been little Mac this entire time haven't you? Here's a better analogy to satisfy your geeky tendencies. Brock Purdy is your friendly neighborhood Quarterback, But J Jonah Nick wants the nation to know he's an absolute menace who hides behind his weapons.

Four Quarterbacks had an opportunity for a game winning drive last week. • Baker Mayfield (rocket arm, 1st round pick) threw a terrible interception and lost • Josh Allen (rocket arm, 1st round pick) nearly fumbled the game away, then made the bad read, settled for a long field goal and lost • Jordan Love (rocket arm, 1st round pick, big hands) threw an atrocious interception and lost • Brock Purdy (noodle arm, 7th round pick, baby hands) went 6/7, drove his team down the field for a touchdown (in the rain) and won

Shooting yourself in the foot and then driving yourself to the hospital is cool, but also not something we give people props for.

I just don't understand why it's soooo difficult to admit when a player has a good season, they're a good player. There's always some kind of yeah but with Purdy even though his stats all year have been better than pretty much every QB. Like it's okay for a late round pick to be amazing. Look at Dak, Russell Wilson, Puka Nacua. Like it's okay to say Purdy is a great player even if he's not Patrick Mahomes. He's gonna win a SB and the narrative is gonna be "well, Purdy didn't win them the SB, Kittle just caught his pass his scored. Purdy didn't have anything to do with it" come on

Because as every world-class athlete knows stats are irrelevant. No DB fears Zak or Purdy or any of the other Stat Ryans of the World. Every DB, LB, and DE fears an accurate QB that can throw or escape under pressure. The only "stat" that matters in the NFL is how hard you are to prepare against. If Detroit could pick a QB to defend against with a 4-point lead in the last 2 minutes of the game, of all the Playoff QBs this season, Purdy would rank in the top quartile for Detroit, and so he isn't 'great 'even among the QBs whose teams have already been beaten in the playoffs this season. His stats are great though.

I don’t know why it seems every member of the media is rating Goff higher than Purdy. Why? What has Goff done that Purdy hasn’t? Made it to the Super Bowl, I guess? Goff has been blessed with great systems every bit as much as Purdy has, but people aren’t discrediting him for it anymore. They play similar styles of the position, with similar weapons to work with (Purdy with *slightly* better skill position weapons and Goff with a significantly better o-line), except Purdy has simply had better production this year.

Coming from a Niners fan, eye test says Purdy is not a top 10 QB, even with the stats, but he’s the perfect QB for the system and weapons we have. He makes all the throws, he has an amazing eye for defenses and he’s makes everyone look good. People forget tho, he’s a second year player in his 2nd NFC title game. We’ll have to wait and see how great he actually is, but for now he’s in a well run system in a well run offense with an offensive genius calling the plays.

I think the eye test easily says he's a top 10 QB. He's more mobile than cousins, tua, Dak, Lawrence, Goff, Stafford, etc, and he's literally the most accurate quarterback in the NFL this year. For a second year player in his first year starting, this is as good we've seen a QB look since Mahomes and Lamar. Would Joe Montana have worked on Elway broncos or Marino's dolphins? Honestly, probably not, cause he doesn't have their arms. Would Tom Brady be able to run the ravens offense? Probably not without significant modification. Does Joe burrow have a cannon? Is Joe burrow in possession of elite mobility? Joe burrow has tiny hands too. Joe might have a better arm, but that's about it. Now, burrow is also a proven commodity. But when you watch the tape of Brock, you see a guy with phenomenal accuracy, elite footwork, incredible abilities to read and process, and pretty good mobility, along with an ability to improvise and make plays off script. If you're drafting a guy in the first round, you'd be jumping for joy if he looks this good in year TWO

Purdy is in his first full year. Playing awesome. As a Niner fan, watching all his games, overwhelmingly he's been awesome. His long balls have been things of beauty. Better than all those elite QBs. Mahomes came into a great team his first year as a starter and went 12-4. Why didn't he win all those games, but the narrative is he goes 17-0 on the Niners along with these other guys? Burrows has an all-star offense. Allen has a great defense and they've consistently put pieces in for him to thrive, but he still can't get them past the divisional round. How is that elite when you keep throwing interceptions and behind the line of scrimmage? Before all you couch coaches say Brock is the dink and dunk king, take a look at your elite QBs. Most are behind him in passing yards per attempt. He may not always play pretty, but in this last game they still put up 27 points in the rain. It would have been 30 without that blocked field goal. All of that with CMC struggling in the first half. I'd entertain Mahomes and Burrow on the Niners. Other guys would crumble with our o-line. We don't need someone who wants to hit their first read or else take off to pick up yardage, though Lamar got better at that over time.
