Thanks for this fascinating look into the night life and workers. That was my impression too, that these folks are working really hard while everyone else sleeps, so that the city can run smoothly during the daytime. Respect. Hi Lin, I'm from the USA and I enjoy your videos. I lived in Guangzhou when they began to put up barriers, like the green fences you filmed and also concrete spikes in 2008-9 in order to prevent the homeless from sleeping under the bridges in the lead-up to the Beijing Olympics and Pan Asian Games in 广州 in 2010. That is why you see fewer homeless, not because of affordable housing.

I've also heard that the government could occasionally gather up the homeless and bus them out of the city. That would also be one reason not to sleep in a place where they expect to find you.
