4g63 head gasket, arp head studs and hks timing belt install, how to set timing on a turbo eclipse

Looks good. I think my eclipse is a 95. I bought it with "tensioner broke on startup" project... so i might try to get away with just head if pistons look good.

Yes, please make more DSM project videos. Sweet looking build. I really like the gold and purple. I found your video while looking for DSM head gasket videos. I am prepping to replace my blown head gasket on my '97 GST that has been sitting in my garage for the past 3 years. Dam time flies. Are you in California by any chance? Since you have a '98 GSX I assume you are tuning the factory black box Hitachi H8 ECU with ECU Flash, and data logging with Evo Scan? I swapped in a '98 ECU into my '97 and that was how I was tuning before I blew the head gasket a few years back. I was running Ceddy Mods. I don't have too many mods except for 850 FIC Injectors, a evo 8 MAF, with a evo 8 injen intake I was barely able to get to fit. Also I have my exhaust side of my head ported/matched to my exhaust manifold, o2 housing egg shelled. As far as my turbo I was just running a 16g with the turbine side ported a bit as well and internal waste gate hole enlarged. A Manual boost controller, and a full 3' exhaust. When I blew my original stock head gasket a few years back I was running about 25+ PSI and did a pull in 3rd to about 8300 RPM...

Yeah I’ll be running ecu flash and evo scan. I’m in Chicago and my last eclipse I used the ceddymods to turn off my emission sensors so the car could still pass emissions lol. I was laughing inside when they tested the car cat came back passed but there was no cat in the car lol

What tool did you use? Because i have hks timing gears and I bought a 4g63 tool stopper tool to lock the timing in and it doesn’t fit between my cam gears

I can tell you what tool he's using to align the timing marks. Its a cam gear locking tool and it looks like the tool that STM sells.

I think it was a plq brand off Amazon. It was a super tight fit with the hks gears

That’s a hks Kevlar timing belt it’s as good as any chain 😆😆 sadly it’s like a $350 timing belt

The DSM 4G63 motor does not use a timing chain.

It’s the angle of the camera I rotated it around 20 times and it lined up good every time. The first time it was like a full tooth off I had to rotate the tensioner a bit before it lined up good with the grenade pin being free moving

Dude you sound high, what kind of weed are you smoking in Chicago? You said you use a 2G cylinder head on a 1G engine block so how did you manage to bolt it on to the block. You know the 1G engine block use the big 12mm x 1.25 head studs vs the 11mm x 1.25 what the 2G engine block use. The only way you can get the 2G head to fit is to open the holes up for the bigger 12mm x 1.25 studs on the 2G 7bolt head

Yep the headstands are bored 1mm over. The head is o ringed as well. The 6 bolt block was less prone to crank walk and has larger mains. The 2g head flows better. It’s actually a very common motor build on 2gs

The easy way to see I’m not lying is I’m running the 2g crank sensor not the 1g cas. The fact I need the kiggly crank trigger adaptor proves the block does not have a crank trigger sensor proving it’s a 6 bolt
