@MsMamamo1 and @andienicci When I wore my own regular hair and it was long, people asked if it was a weave and I just said Nope. All mine. No harm no foul...You are right, it is sorta a compliment because usually weaves are much fuller and healthier looking than your own hair.

I was LMAO at this video. My daughter calls me all the time with stories about people coming up to her about her hair. She had long hair and would do blonde highlights. She's Cuban/Jamaican and me (smile) so she has a weird texture. Now she's going natural since October and she's getting the "how long have you been going natural?" questions. She never goes off on them...she just answers and smile.

I had long hair up until I moved to Georgia 8 years ago, then I had to cut it off because it was a million degrees out here and my pressed hair was having none of it. I been short or weaved ever since.

Yeah, my mom died from cancer and I remember how difficult it was when she lost her hair. I wouldn't want anyone to put her through the embarrassment. But the girl asked her what kind of hair it was, it seems like if she didn't want to discuss she could've just said "it's mine". The girl would not have argued her down. She brought more attention to herself with the cussing out. But I promise you, the girl was innocent enough, it wasn't crowded, I only heard curious girl because I was watching.

Lol, I know exactly who you are talking about because I am subscribed to her as well and she is an awesome makeup artist I think. I guess folks have their reasons, I'm just more of the laid back type. Can't expect everyone to be like that though.

Woo hoo!! Can we get an Amen!! Great video Rox... I bet that poor clueless chile won't ask another women about her head...LOL. I wore braids for 3 years straight. Took them out & put them back in. I'm on a braid brake. My hair line is shot but I will get a couple of tracks to thicken up the top. I'll make sure the hair is of good quality & my stylist will blend to the best of her ability. No shame here.

Well weave hair, like anything else, can get expensive. It just depends on what you want to spend. I know that since weaves are the in thing, the prices have gotten inflated and the quality has deflated. I had bought into the "more expensive is better" and sometimes it really is, but in a lot of cases I have found it really doesn't make much difference.

I just flat iron my daughter's hair, and trust me it is more than a notion. Takes HOURS. And a whole bunch of arguing, pleading, fussing....we are both exhausted when the ordeal is done.

Well I feel for stank ass long hair lady because I for one have always been asked or accused of wearing a weave when I was NOT!! And my attitude was kind of the same in that why is the assumption that because I am a woman of color that my hair has to be fake?? It was very annoying growing up, and when you tell woman the truth, then they want to literally feel and touch your scalp for a weave check ... it was insulting.

You are exactly right. If it is your real hair, you don't have a reason to get offended. People ask my sister if she is wearing a weave or a wig all the time and she takes it as a compliment. She has really full silky hair.

You are gonna laugh Koko but I had loc extensions back in the day! Went and bought this kinky hair that was literally in bricks and you just pulled you off some hair and twisted it into yours. (Well, I'm sure it was more to it than that but that was the jest of it.) Yeah, we do like the big long flowing hair. But that doesn't mean I don't like the short tight fro. Or the kinky twists (which I used to love when I had them), or the big humongous curly do...it's a matter of preference that's all. I still love my black shape, my big butt, my hips, my legs, my color...I guess I'm just saying my weave is not me denouncing my race as a whole.

When I used to live in Atlanta, my hair was very long. I rarely flat ironed it because it was hot and I didn't feel like it. People thought I had a weave. It was more of a problem to wear it down. I had the constant questions about where did I get my hair. I didn't get an attitude with people. I told them about my hair and kindly corrected them. I even parted my hair in a store once. If it is your hair, you will never get upset with people who ask but it is awfully annoying. Not their fault

I love this video! Thank you so much for posting this. I started wearing wigs a few years ago orginally for style. I like changing my hair alot and wigs are an easy way to do it without having to cut or color my real hair. To me it does not matter as long as it looks good on the person wearing it. I have gotten the question about what type of hair, where did it get it, how did I find the color, etc. I just tell the truth because I am helping another sister out.

If someone asked me if it was a weave and it wasn't, I'd say it wasn't. I'm not trying to be saintly here...I know a rude comment from an innocent one. If someone was clearly trying to bust me out, then I'd correct them. And it could very possibly get heated. But this girl was not rude, it wasn't loud, it was just she and I up at the front beside Stank Attitude, and it could've been handled differently in my opinion. Or if you don't want to say, just say "I'd rather not say" and be done with it.

I think breast implants or dentures is taking it a bit far. I wouldn't ask that, you are right, but I would ask where someone got their shoes from. Because I look at the two as accessories. Dentures are necessary (and I know where to get those from should I need them) and breast implants are a surgical process. You better believe if I see some extra perky super big super round breast braless on someone though, I'm assuming implants. Sorry. I just won't ask about them because it's obvious.

Yrs ago a girl who workd at my job n anothr dept came 2 work w/ a long ponytail down her back. Her hair was short so I thought it was obvious that it wasnt growing from her scalp. She and I were always very friendly toward each other so I THOUGHT I was complimenting her by telling her how if I hadnt known better I would have thought it was her real hair. From then on, she never spk to me again. I later realizd it was b/c of the hair comment but didnt know how to apologize. I learned my lesson.
