Is it the fact that there is nothing attached or does this locomotive seems to have less vibration compared to older models (eg the RE460 ) ? The ride seems more "fluid"
@lorirocks777Ай бұрын
With a heavy train these vibrate more thannthe Re 460 ever has in my experience. They're not as track friendly either.

So we're now seeing a steady flow of videos from a very special time and I, for one, look forward to many more of these, not just from the perspective of the interplay between World Events™ and operations but also because the infrastructure has changed since filming. This kind of mission would clearly now be a candidate for routing via the Mägenwil Curve and that's something else to look forward to. Did you have any trips to the Dottikon overflow sidings during this period? Very spooky to see the Frick cableway without any buckets. Finally, just need to commend your use of EQ, you did a very good job of minimising the unwanted sound - with that in mind, my fantasy accessory for such sports cams would be a clamp with liquid cooling circuits in the jaws. Thank you so much for taking so much trouble with all this, you're doing us all a huge service \m/
@lorirocks777Ай бұрын
Thanks for your kind comments. I always know I'm in for a good read when I see your username 😊 Yes, there are lots more videos from thos period. As soon as things start changing (infrastructure, etc).. I'm prompted to film more with the aim to one day create a comparison film, where we pass the same section a number of times to see the progress. I'm not sure about Dottikon, but it's likely. Thanks for sharing your observations!

Good trip. Ee 6/6 still waiting for scrap plus a couple of sputniks. Two Am4/4 quiet rare. Lots of Aem 940 in the yard. What has happened to the Tm series of loco rarely seen these days. Low power and weight would be a disadvantage for the heavy wagons and loads of today. Replaced by Am 842's?
@lorirocks777Ай бұрын
Many Tms have been sold to private companies, but you still see them in use here and there, especially in Härkingen.

This was a beautiful video ! In the last marshaling yard there were some really heavy duty looking engines. What do they use those big boys for? Thank you so much for your work. ❤💯💯
@lorirocks777Ай бұрын
Thank you! I assume you're referring to the Aem 840. They're not as powerful as their predecessors, the Am 6/6, but they're used for sorting out trains by pushing them over the hump, or also for track maintenance trains. They can operate under power, with diesel or a built in battery.

Belle manoeuvre à LIMMATAL? Non aucun bruit dérangeant? Merci.

I still don't understand why in Switzerland they drive on the left side of the track while in all of Europe they drive on the right side of the track. Please explain this to me.
@lorirocks777Ай бұрын
France, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, Sweden and parts of Austria also drive on the left.
@officialmcdeathАй бұрын
Which side the train drives on is a result of the origin of the route. Switzerland's development was very much informed by the work of the Stephensons, so left-hand running is the convention. The same is true for much of France, with the notable exceptions of Alsace and Lorraine, which were part of Germany at the time their railways were built. As a result, right-hand running is usual there and you see overpasses to swap the tracks over at the regional boundaries \m/
@daviddearden6372Ай бұрын
Also in France many of the original routes drive on the left. Goes back to the C19 when many of the early railway engineers were British.
@johnbeaulieu2404Ай бұрын
What is the banging or booming sound that can be heard coming into Brugg?
@lorirocks777Ай бұрын
It's the wheels sliding sideways on the tracks. It's typical when taking curves at low speed.
@johnbeaulieu2404Ай бұрын
@@lorirocks777 So since that is happening repeatedly under those conditions, the locomotive bogies are "hunting".
