Very good video of part of my past. It has been 45 years since I spent a week in Wengen. I was heading north to catch a plane back home to Kentucky. Studied a summer in Venice. Switzerland and Wengen was a pleasant surprise. Things have changed. I remember meeting two elder sisters who ran a cheese shop.We exchanged letters for a few years and their letters stopped. I will get back to Switzerland and Wengen some time soon. We hit Venice 4 years ago and am itching to return to Switzerland. Thank you so much for the tour today. It was outstanding.

Really enjoyed your walk and video. Thanks for sharing. You covered areas I never walked before. Wengen is our favorite vacation spot. Been coming here first time in 1974. Then back to Wengen a few more time after I retired. If it weren't for Covid-19, we'd be there. We took nice day trips down to Lauterbrunnen, then back up on the other wide to Murren and Schilthorn. You started your walk right at the church valley overlook. Stunning. We spent hours each day sitting on those benches - with the local cat. Then you walked passed the best thin pizza place (Da Sina) in all of village and valley. Over the years we took day trips to Bern, Thun, Brienz and Interlaken. We seem to always visit Wengen around June. We need to get back here when it's a lot cooler. The sounds of cow and goat bells are iconic and I'll remember it as Swiss as Swiss can be. Thanks for your work.

Thanks, great video. What I like most is that there are almost no ugly buildings in Switzerland; the buildings are in perfect harmony with the surrounding sceneries. By contrast, I can tell you that although there are amazingly green and beautiful mountains in northern Turkey (Black Sea region), there is no good urban planning there. Sure, there are beautiful buildings and areas in cities, but there are also many ugly buildings and areas, it's not coherent. Switzerland is just an amazingly well-organized country.

Beautiful! Have you been to Andorra? It has many similarities, but is a whole lot less expensive. You can definitely get a leg workout there.

I haven't but you had me at "less expensive". Thanks! -Henry

I love your videos, can you do one of Zurich, bern, Geneva,

I would love to go back to Switzerland and film all of those cities. It will probably be awhile. -H

Hey i just wanted your opinion on if you would recommend basing 3 nights in Lauterbrunnen or Wengen - loved both your videos btw
@CityWalks5 ай бұрын
I think I would choose Wengen. It is much quieter and calmer than a lotLauterbrunnen but only a short train ride away. Also, the views are incredible from up there. You cannot drive your car up there though so keep that in mind. Although you can go up and over to get to Grindelwald, you basically go through interlaken to get anywhere else in the region. I envy you getting to go there. We spent a month and it was absolutely magical. -H

@@CityWalks thanks for replying :-) I so wish we could spend a month but alas no. Wengen it is!

Interlockin at the base of these valleys has great access to mountain trails as well as two lakes.

I would love to, however, I'm not longer in Switzerland. Thanks for asking and if I get back, I'll try to remember to film that. -H

One thong I would like to see on these walking tours is the inside of the houses. Are there very many single family homes?
@CityWalks3 жыл бұрын
That would be interesting. In the future, I'll try to include tours of our rentals. Thanks. -H

H. man, are the fish and the P still on the north side hill or has that area been developed ❓
@CityWalks3 жыл бұрын
Nope, they are still there. Took me a second to realize you were talking about Livingston. -H

@@CityWalks sorry I should have been more exact. I lived on the North side hill in the middle 60's

@@thedraminator6103 Right, it was just that the comment is on a Switzerland vid. I got it now. Very cool. I'm sure it was much different, but also maybe not that different from now. It was actually probably a bigger town back then. -H

The two best hotels there, in my opinion, are the Belvédère, (which you walked past at the beginning), and the Regina. That is, if you're looking for old world charm and class.
@CityWalks3 жыл бұрын
Great info. There were some great looking places. We had an apartment for the month which was also great and much more affordable. -H
@craxd13 жыл бұрын
@@CityWalks A month at either of those I mentioned, would run up a rather expensive bill. A week at the most, say during a honeymoon, or an anniversary would be okay. The Regina can run upwards of $1,000 US a night, according to the room or suite. You're better off with an apartment for an extended stay.
@CityWalks3 жыл бұрын
@@craxd1 Wow! Yeah we got the apartment for that reason, Also we were able to cook our own food and groceries were WAY cheaper than restaurants. It's an expensive country for sure but such beauty! -H

@@CityWalks If you ever have a chance, at least for one night while there, go up to Mürren, and try out the Bond experience (Bond suite) at the Hotel Eiger. That suite is all Bond from the 70s-80s - its decor is a gas. The room's view is across the valley, showing the Jungfrau, Mönch, and Eiger. A trip up to the Schilthorn, to dine, finishes it off, which has a nice Bollinger bar, with 007 branded hamburgers.
@CityWalks3 жыл бұрын
@@craxd1 We actually did the hike from Mürren to Gimmelwald and made a short vid for our travel channel @TravelingMel But I didn't film it for the hike. We didn't go up to the Bond experience because of the price but next time for sure. -H
