Hi, I would like to know if a Ceiling mounted Epson 6050 UB can project at a distance of 8.5m ( 27.8ft ) onto a 150" screen of 16:9 ratio without too much hassle in adjustment or focus and also if i will be loosing anything by having the projector that far from the screen. Thx

Just bought a refurb Epson Home Cinema 2100 for $399. Blown away. Bulb had 2 hours on it. Practically new. I can’t believe a projector can look this good. Put my 50in in bedroom. Epson wins on overall brightness but JVC had the more accurate and detailed looking picture. JVC is 5999 retail and under 5k from a dealer (even 4500 or less). Also, I've seen tests that show JVC latency to be around 40ms. Can you share the JVC settings - lamp, color, etc.?

Epson’s e-Shift technology actually results in 4 million unique pixels on the screen. It doesn’t just show the same 1080p image twice shifted diagonally, but resolves different image detail in each shift...it’s like a checkerboard interlacing.

Would it make sense to get 9400 and a bunch of oem lamps in 2024? I am asking as from what I have been researching nothing up to 2.5k $/€ matches 9400’s cinematic performance. I don’t want to make a costly mistake. My budget is limited to 2k and would stretch to 2.5 if it matched 9400 ( I actually seen for myself how amazing it is). @@ThatHomeTheaterDude LOL. I hear ya. JVC has made a big deal out of not calling it "auto", because that is what everyone else has on their projectors. When this 4K line was introduced it had "auto" tone mapping. Then the firmware update in October 2019 added the "dynamic" tone mapping. Obviously both types automatically adjust the HDR tone mapping. Dynamic adjusts continuously throughout the content, whereas the auto only does it once at the beginning . So auto is a static tone mapping They should have just called it static instead of auto. So you are not wrong. LOL. You did an excellent job of explaining what the tone mapping does towards the end of the video. Thanks for the video. Both machines are very impressive, have the Epson and seen the JVC. Personally the performance difference doesn't justify the price difference, the JVC is better but it's more marginal than you'd think. Blacks are the main difference but in my case I bought a grey screen and now the difference in blacks aren't nearly that big as the Epson have lumens to spare.

JC cohen What you need more for 3D is brightness, pop in 3d is stereoscopy which is infinitely better than contrast, of course it depends on the 3d quality of the movie itself, if it is a poor conversion or a good one, or native 3d with the right baseline and other technical aspects of 3d.

Without dedicated cinema room there's no better projector than 9400. I went through 4 projectors so far. The previous one was 9300 which I also loved but it's had some problems with colors(blue was kind of purple), and no 4k HDR in 60fps. With 9400 they really fixed the colors, made it even brighter, added 4k HDR in 60fps(I use it for gaming) and black is black(even if half screen is totally white the other half is still perfectly black). The brightness it offers really makes a difference during the day. I'm currently in my living room, during the day with white walls and can still see. At night all nice and quiet in eco mode and HDR is amazing. Also it's possible sometimes to find it on ebay for ~$2000 which is a steal for this quality.

Quick question, I have the Epson 9300 and was wondering what difference you noticed when you got the 9400? How are the black levels (most important quality in a projector for me) and how is the overall picture quality difference. Would you recommend the 9400 if coming from the 9300. I have a dedicated bat cave and a grey screen.
@graczmisiek4131
@graczmisiek4131 2 жыл бұрын
@@sephirothcld4520 9400 is brighter with the same lightbulb installed(I swapped to see the difference), black levels are similar to 9300's, still not perfect but I'm using a white wall. I used to have a grey screen and with it black levels would be just perfect for my taste. I doubt there's any reasonable alternative in this price range and I wouldn't switch to native 4k if it would cost sacrificing the contrast. The colors are different than 9300, definitely warmer and more natural. Unlike 9300 9400 works in 60hz with 4k and HDR which is important for games and I use it as my computer monitor. Now I'm just above 2000 hours in and love it. Unlike with 9300 I never use high lamp mode as eco is bright enough in the evening.

Great comparison. I have the 5040Ub and with some minor gamma tweaks it looks almost as good as the 6050. I was seriously looking at he JVC, but at only 1,900 lumens, the price cannot be justified. I, like many, don't have a dedicated theatre room. I like to leave a dim back light coming from my kitchen while watching movies, and the Epson performs extremely well in that scenario. Comparing apples to apples lumen-wise, JCV does not bump up the lumens to something decent unless you shell out another 4k, and then it's only 2,200. Sticking with my 5040... For now :)

The issue could be that Disney+ will only stream 4k HDR at 60Hz/fps whereas the 5040 is only capable of accepting 4K HDR at 30Hz/fps so Disney+ won't send the 4K HDR signal because it detects that your display isn't capable of 4K/60. @@dbzdeath Blown out? Colors are washed out? Dude?!!! Those are all adjustments that you as an owner of an Epson projector can make! I can easily make my colors look so more over saturated if I want to. I can easily make it look just the opposite of blown out. Or, in both case DIALED IN TO YOUR OWN INDIVIDUAL PREFERENCE. These are parameters WE as owners can control. No tuning is perfect for each and every user. It's all each of our opinion as to what is best for the individual. But, those parameters are easily adjusted! If I want my 5050ub to look exactly like what the JVC IS TUNED TO, I can do it! Sure, maybe it will get to just 95, or 98% as good as what you think the JVC is, but I can tune my 5050ub to look as close as can be to what the JVC looks like in this video! It may NOT get to 100% the same. BUT, I can buy TWO or more of the 5050ub for the price of the JVC. I paid $2299.00 for my 5050ub direct from Epson. Epson gives a 2 year essentially an "over the counter exchange!" You call them, they trouble shoot your issue, and if they can't fix it over the phone, they send you another projector. You get it in 2 or 3 days - Yes, they 2nd day air it to you! Then you takes yours and put it in that box the unit they sent you came in, and send it back - shipping PREPAID! It cost nothing! So, when I saw that their refurb units came with the same damn warranty, I bought the refurb, which I have done before, and had no issues with at all! A refurb is a unit that had an issue (some, there's nothing wrong at all they simply couldn't troubleshoot it over the phone!) and went back to the factory and the techs went completely through it and test everything to make sure it passes quality control. Then it is available to buy, at a discount of $700 BUCKS! Well, since I can still send mine back if it has an issue, just like a new one, I said WHY PAY $700 more FOR A NEW ONE! Going through quality control a second time is not a bad thing! It's actually a great thing! Like my other Epson projector, It's been perfect from day one, and I couldn't tell the difference between it and a new projector - not a single scuff or blemish or degradation in picture quality! So, you go ahead and spend for the JVC, and I'll sit back and enjoy my hundreds and hundreds of dollars I $aved! And, I got around 98% of the performance of the JVC....and I couldn't care less that the JVC might be 2 or even 5% better, even 10%! If perfectionists want to pay more, SO BE IT! I don't care!!!!!!!!!!!b It's certainly soooooo damn close, it's not even close to worth buying the JVC to me! Being that I was in the consumer electronics industry for well over 35 YEARS and sold both Epson and JVC, I know FROM EXPERIENCE that Epson products are FAR MORE RELIABLE and DURABLE than JVC products. JVC I would rated as very good reliability and quality. But, EPSON IS KING OF QUALITY, design, performance for the buck, and overall VALUE!!!!!!! FACT! :)

I also understand that the demo you choose was for copyright issues, but it sucks, as it shows fake comparisons, which are always inaccurate and inappropriate to compare 2 projectors, not to mention seeing this over youtube and through the lens of your camera. having said that I appreciate the effort you make to inform as best you can about the differences of these projectors, especially to those of us who are trying to make up our minds on which projector to buy.

It's a camera problem. We have two PJs with different lumen output (brighness). The camera is not a human eye. When taking a picture you can set the aperture (how much light comes in) at a fixed position. So, in this case you have to choose: one of the projectors will be too bright (overexposed) or to dark (underexposed). One would have to lumen match the PJ to be able to take a good comparison photo. Or make two photos/videos idependently with different camera settings and stich them in post production but that could be acused of falsifying the reality.

What do you mean too much brightness brightness is very important for hdr. The JVC is too expensive for what it is. I am a guy who paid a lot of money for my car (because it was worth it for the features I got in return) but sometimes you have to be reasonable JVC projectors are almost always too expensive for what you get even if their black level is great (I care about black level a lot) their brightness is always on the lower end. I paid a lot for my JVC x5000 a while back and when I checked the quality of the Epson TW9300 at my friends Richer Sounds store I didn't see a projector that is 2x worse than my X5000. Although my projector is a little old I believe the Epson tw9400 or 9300 is the best bang for the buck projector there is unless you like laser. Another issue was I didn't even get an auto lens cover for that price on my X5000. Listen I generally use to love JVC projectors due to their black level but there are many projectors that can deliver good black levels now. My first JVC was the HD350 then I moved on to the x5000. In my opinion they are not worth the premium over something like an Epson 9300 and that is the truth. There are some people that spent a lot of money on their JVC and will always say stuff to protect their "expensive projector" so that they can justify the money they spent. I know the Epson is faux 4k but it's difficult to tell the difference from almost any seating distance. These N5/7 JVC projectors would have been insane if their brightness was around the 2500 lumens mark for something like that JVC would probably ask for £30k 🙄

@@replayreb The space shuttle actually looked better without the imax enhanced on epson. I max just totally blew the bright parts.

Excellent comparison. The Epson clearly looks a lot brighter in most scenes. For the much lower price, the Epson is clearly the winner. Also very funny how the much less expensive and much brighter Epson has the built-in Lens Cover and the much more expensive JVC projectors (even their $18,000 NX9) don't even come with built-in lens cover.

yeah lens cover is a good idea. i think maybe the DCR lens add on is a reason why its not on there. i could be wrong

JVC not worth the money . I prefer the Epsom. I still use 1080p Epsom projector. Yes 4k is marginally better but not worth the extra cost. I find 4k is not Cinematic for me . Thanks for the video.

the rs-2000, which is double the price of the epson shows a bigger departure from the epson. its a great projector

With all the white walls in this room, the comparison of these two projectors is basically useless. Try the JVC in total light controlled setting (as intended) and then examine your findings.

Picture quality is great no doubt when it works, but Epson projectors are garbage now. Would recommend a JVC or Sony. Bought an Epson projector (5040UB) in March 2018, exactly 3 years later I’m on my 5th Epson projector (under warranty). I was upgraded to a 5050UB due to all the failures from the 5040UB. The 5050UB is no different. I’m sure this 5th one will die out on me in a few month. Will buy a JVC then. The older Epson used to be reliable. Not these eshift 4K BS.

For me id buy the Epson 6050ub for brightness and 4K enhancement for the price ya really good, and I can just get a screen with a gain!! 👀👀 There JVC looks a little more in focus due to the native 4K but other than that they both are good projectors!!!!

Word of Warning- This is for all of you interested in Sony and JVC projectors in comparison to Epson: Both are native 4K and got better image capabilities (for a Period of time): You need to know that both jvc and sony need a good amount of professional calibration-work to be done (1-2 times a year) to MAINTAIN this nice image quality! Sony issues: Colourdrift, gammadrift,shading and continuing contrast lowering (panel degredation )which means colours are more and more "off", gamma:2,4 -> 1,9 too bright, shading: Yellow shades/clouds in White ,contrast: your blacks getting brighter or you get a blue tint -> these last three cant be undone by any calibration! JVC: Colourdrift,shading and Gammadrift: Usually Colours and Gamma an be fixed by calibration. Otherwise some have brightened corners, reflections. So they ARE better but more complex and far away from perfect especially if the pricetag is considered (Writing this as a Sony VW295 user considering switching (back) to Epson ub6050). JVC NX5 and Sony 2xx are barely bright enough for HDR aswell, so you need to step up to NX7/Sony 5XX. Just my opinion and experience.

@Vic Vic These aren't issues per se i''d say -it's technically based: low fill rate in fullhd= screen door, Shifting is another noise factor,yes. Black levels: It's LCD so it cant come down that low in black levels. But you got a stable Picture quality, lot more brightness,better blacks than any consumer DLP and so on. JVC maybe got the best projectors in business if one is willing to spend money and time for purchase and in the long run with it's shortcomings (calibration vs drifts, expensive bulbs). There is no perfect projector anyway.

Everyone is talking about the price difference, but I don't the commenters realize that the JVC is a 4k projector and the Epson is not. It's a 1080p projector that upscales to 4k, it's fake.
