It blows my mind that there are people glued to their phones throughout the ride, and people chatting the whole time. I used to go to Disneyland about 10 times every year during 95-03 as a kid. The last time I went was 2013, and it just wasn't nearly as fun as I remembered it. People these days are ruder, and the park was much more packed (even more so than during peak holidays at Disneyland).

Jasper Hahn I agree. The first time I was in the stretching room, I couldn’t hear a thing. I didn’t know to look up for the Ghost Host. There was just so much chatter. Or sometimes a guest gets out of the “Doom Buggy”, and goes out of bounds. Unfortunately that has been a problem, staff has to wrangle a guest sneaking out of bounds (one of them attempted to steal Madame Leota’s crystal ball 🔮) or other times some guest tries to be a Smart Alec and reach up to hit the emergency stop button. I know whats the point of waiting in line for a ride if you're gonna be on your freaking phone. That should be a new thing they add to the narration. "We spirits haunt our best in gloomy darkness, so remember, no flash pictures or cell phones... please" But this would require getting rid of Paul Frees's voice to record new lines so I don't think thats the best idea but it should be a rule to turn off your phones during a dark ride.
@KassMcCormack6 жыл бұрын
Spongeycraft Also it’s kind of pointless to be on your phone because they don’t work on the ride so I don’t even know what they’re looking at that can’t wait 10 minutes.
@AnakinMarcZaeger6 жыл бұрын
They've already replaced Frees's voice for part of the spiel. The part where they say "do not pull down on the safety bar please" isn't him. The voice is very similar, but if you listen carefully (or compare it to old recordings of the ride), you can tell it's not him.

I´ll never forget that 15 minutes I was stuck in the car on the graveyard back in 2011... 15 Minutes power off track- only and all the ghosts kept singing and dancing :)

They seriously need to get that Stretch Room Spiel playing in the Foyer as well - you can't hear it at all till you get in and it goes off almost straight away! I thought after all these years they would have sorted that by now...

Thanks for posting this. In spite of the noise, which is normal for this ride, you did capture it well with your low light camera. Best that I have seen.

did you every realized that you die on the haunted mansion the going backwards scene is actually you falling out a window to your death because that's the only way out according to the ghost host

I cannot believe people pay (or have someone buy a ticket for them) just to sit on their phone during the ride. Example of what I am talking about: go to Madame Leota around 5:53 and you can see people are totally not even paying attention and are just on their phones. YOU ARE LITERALLY AT DISNEYLAND!

Damn straight. It kind of defeats the purpose of riding a dark ride while being on your phone with your brightness at max.

Thank you for the video it does bring back memories of my family's funeral Home holiday events. My family is all gone now. I do miss them even though time to time especially during Halloween they do come to visit in the spiritual world. If I ever feel like I terribly can't stand missing them so much and my heart is breaking I'll be sure to make a point to take a trip to this Haunted Mansion.

I ended up liking it , but that guy hanging on the ceiling freaking me out as a kid

Its fun to see this after growing up with the Florida version. The lighter color in the parlor before the stretch room makes it seem more innocent. Also certain features here you see that you dont see unless you are in the doom buggy like in FL. The changing pictures, library busts, and the spirit at the end talking about the death certificates. Kind of make this one seem more fun. course i feel bad for people who miss out on this during the holiday change over closings.
@thinkabtkriss5 жыл бұрын
I really hate it when the people were talking in the stretching room and on the way to the doom buggies. If i worked to watch the elevator, I would say to step away from the walls to the dead center. Then i would say "And, no talking. It makes the spirits restless." Edit: Hey when I went to Disneyland I got the same ghost as you when we were stuck near the exit for 15 minutes
@jacobs12645 жыл бұрын
Kloe Chuca well on the way to the room buggies is a line so it would be a little weird for everyone to stay quiet but I agree with the stretching room

Came back after a whole year to say....STAY THE F OFF YOUR PHONE ON THIS RIDE DAMN IT! IT is like 10 min! Can people not chill for 10 DAMN MIN!? I saw it again and was again saddened. Just go sit in a cardboard box with your stupid phone if that is what you like but do not ruin it for us.
@chriswilloughby482 жыл бұрын
It's been a really long time since I went to this and it was amazing to have my memory jogged. "Don't lower the safety bar, I'll do it for you", "Please bring your death certificate..." Wow. I was so lucky to see this as a 10 year old in the 80s.

The mansion is really a front. There’s a ride building hidden behind the mansion, and that’s where the actual ride is. You can’t actually see it though. The stretching room is actually an elevator and the painting hallway is actually an underground tunnel.
@vt81055 жыл бұрын
11:25 CA version just needs an upgrade on its animatronics. Otherwise, the ride is better there. You actually walk past the portraits and statues instead of being in a buggy. In Florida, all that is witnessed while seated. Feels better walking through it. You can stop anytime. Florida has no spider webs. Look at boarding area and endless hallway. Spider webs throughout in California. Florida's haunted mansion has no spider webs there. Haunted mansion without spider webs? Bats on the walls at WDW? If it were a house in ruins sure. However, this is a house that's sealed with doors "...to find a way out" to quote the ghost host. Bats in mass wouldn't make it inside a house like that. They would stay outside. Ballroom in CA actually looks more intriguing, minus the lack of lightning (only a small piece of lightning in the very back) Again, animatronics needs to be upgraded in CA. Trees in CA have faces, like the ones you see in Snowhite. Florida's doesn't. Faces give it more of that Disney kids effect. Bottom line - only animatronics need to be upgradd in CA. Otherwise, the ride itself to include the walk to the doom buggies and the walk past Madame Leota at the end is better. Hatbox and piano in attic are icing on the cake. Piano in attic feels better and has better effects than piano version at WDW. You see hands moving in a computerized method. In CA, it's way smoother.
@TheHauntedMansionArchive4 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I noticed that the animatronics in CA are actually alot more motionless than they were in 1969. I'm glad the mansion is down for refurb, and I hope they move as they did on opening day in 1969.
