4K! Jujube tree is one of the greatest fruit trees that require little care but thrive throughout the summer, perfect for backyard gardening. Its lovely fruits ripen in the hottest season when all the other fruit trees are mostly done. Eat jujube fruits fresh or use the dried ones for kitchen ingredients, bringing a different flavor to the harvest season.

Wow.. !!! Your fruits trees are so healthy, especially jujube tree. What is the name of your jujube tree? Is it shanxi or Li or Lang? Those are huge juju be fruits. Send me some of your seeds this way please . I'm jealous you have good weather to grow them. I live in AZ hot heat clay soil. Hard to grow tropical fruits here. I give up buying tropical trees from nursery. I Always fail. Perhaps I shoud try to grow them them from seeds. Love your fruits trees channel and thx you for sharing.

Thanks for the response. Where is your location? How many harvests do you have within one year? My two jujube trees grow fruits the first time in this spring and I had a good harvest at end of the July. I saw some flowers in one jujube tree. I think I may get two harvests in one year. I wonder whether I should prune out old leaves since those new flowers grow from new leaves.

How do you fertilize and water your jujube tree since it grew vigorously? what kind of jujube tree in your yard? I noticed some yellow/brown spots on some leaves of your jujube tree. Do you spray any chemicals for disease control? My jujube trees had a lot of black spots on leaves last year. Why do you cut off all the branches every winter?

Lots of questions :-) This is called "Ziziphus jujuba" I purchased from homedepot. I never used any fertilizer other than my homemade compost (you can find another of my video talking about composing). Like most of the trees, trimming the tree all the way down to the main branch will encourage new growth for next year and control the tree size. You don't end up only looking at the jujubes beyond your reach!

Thank you for sharing your wonderful cuisine! How do you keep your rat invaders from eating all of these too? Is it possible to grow this in a cooler climate like New Jersey?

Thanks Jim! Jujube tree can survive zone 6 to 10. So it'll be fine since New Jersey is zone 6/7. I haven't found any issues with rat yet, they don't seem to like jujube fruits.

I cut it all the way back to the trunk every winter, and it grows back like crazy.

@@XueMingYu you never cut the main trunk down?? I have bought some jujubes in the past couple years and they dropped all their branches/leaves a couple months after I planted them in the ground (just stressed initially I think with the transplant shock). I thought they were dead. Next season a couple started sending out suckers and only one shoot off of the top of the main trunk. I am wondering if trimming the main trunk would make it send out more shoots the next season? Or should I just leave it be? Would this kill the tree? I have no idea how resilient they are. I just want to start an orchard of them.

@@mattkriz8653 I believe what you observed is similar to mine. My jujube only sent out suckers during its first/second season. After that, they exploded and came off everywhere. I did have to cut off the main to controls its height.
