Absolutely fantastic ride. Usually you like to see the landscape (something for the eye), but this urban route with its many track changes and the slow ride make this route a pleasure. At slow speed, you can recognize the signals and switches even as a “non-railroader” ;-) There is also quite a tangle of overhead lines in places. Wonderful, I'd love to see more.

The rides through the "business districts" are fascinating. At least to me. I am trying to watch the videos under 1 hour on the site before tackling the longer ones. Thanks for showing this interesting ride to me.

Sehr interessante Strecke.

Great video! Its so great to see that the Re 446 Locomotives still run in some places! I still remember the times when they would drive for the SOB, and even the BT, although I wasn’t around to see that. I do still miss them very much, as nice as the ‘new’ Flirt trains are. I also remember my journey with the Re 446 many years ago when it ran on the Gipfeli Express route. Very nostalgic those trains are. Thanks for the Cab View of this!

Interesting to see that some of the signals now use LEDs. I thought SBB were reluctant to convert to LEDs because the optics are different. 🤔
@dellacapaolo Жыл бұрын
That's because they are signals of the German DB Netz.

beautiful ride. You are passing some interesting stock. In the beginning (that white loco); that is an ex-DR 211 claas isn't it? The Re 446 is also a very nice loco. There were 4 of them, originally built for the SOB. Good to see, they are still running. Thank you, Paolo.

Yet another spectacular video. It is a treat to watch a well-run and well kept railway, as opposed to the run down and poorly maintained "for profit" railways of North America. Danke 👍

Great video. From Kleinhüniger Hafen to Basel SBB main station. You can also see the German Badischer Haupt station in Switzerland and the French Alsace station in Switzerland. In particular, you rolled a big loop anyway and even passed the FC Basel football stadium twice. Greetings from Basel Switzerland

Most of the time I watch your videos to see the countryside, which happens to not look like where I live. But this time, the similarity between this area and Los Angeles is striking. Same kinds of highways, bridges, overpasses, graffiti. Only the rivers are different.
@gabkae8067 Жыл бұрын
I see it now. At 11:55 the freight train blocked the view where you could have rolled directly to Basel main station. But then you first went to Muttenz station and changed the driver's cab at 04:20 and then rolled back to the main SBB station. Hence the big loop. Greetings from Basel

Is there a possibility of a future video going along the north side of the Rhine from Basel Bad to Schaffhausen along through the German route?
@lorirocks777 Жыл бұрын
Yes
@SB-km6fp Жыл бұрын
@lorirocks777 I did it as part of an unintended diversion from Offenburg when our train through the Black Forest was delayed by a number of hours. It was a really pretty line with a yellow diesel train. It's called the High Rhine Railway. It looks like a lot of the trains are coloured Red but ours was definitely yellow.

Do mind if I download your _Cab-view_ video, to my computer for *_personal use only?_* As my connection is way too slow and consumes too much data. E.g. 20 minute video uses like its a 2 hour video! Again for _personal use only_ that is viewing on my computer and not re uploading (somewhere else, editing etc.)! Also where do I find the "Link in the description" ?
@lorirocks7778 ай бұрын
Thank you for asking. In your circumstance, I don't mind, it's understandable. I'm sorry, I'm a bit behind with the links, I hope to get them done soon.

Why could the stop sign at 21:22 be passed?
@lwilton Жыл бұрын
Various countries like the Netherlands, and I presume the Swiss, have a rule that certain (but not all) red signals can be passed. You need to come to a stop first, and then proceed "drive on sight", which is slow enough that you can see and stop before hitting an obstruction. There may also be an official speed limit to do this, maybe 10 or 30 KPH.
@lorirocks777 Жыл бұрын
We switched from moving between stations to shunting within a station, which is done with the small signals on the ground.
@co_sinus Жыл бұрын
@@lorirocks777 Thank you. I imagined that should happened, but couldn't see the shunting signal - I didn't looked close enough.

You state max gradient as 38%. Isn't it actually 3.8%? I use the US method to express gradient.
@lorirocks777 Жыл бұрын
It is 3.8%, which I expressed as 38‰, as it is done here.
