In this week video, I discuss how ownership have been so far with my 2019 Mazda 3 Hatchback preferred package. I have definitely experience some ups and downs with the car (examples of cons: Transmission, Windshields, Recalls, etc). During the video you will get an understanding of what to expect owning a 4th Generation Mazda 3 (BP).
I purchase the car in December of 2019. During the recording of this video, the car had just under 23,000 miles on it.

I just put in a order for a '23 3. I hope in the few years the car has been out, has been fine tuned enough to have been rectified.

This ATX is totally bullet proof reliable and is used since 2012. One of the best if not the best and most reliable ATX on the market... so you had really bad luck with yours. I have always used Lubegard Paltinum in mine and it works wonders to quicken and smoother shifts , quieter tranny noise and allow tranny to stay up to 20 degrees cooler ... Highly recommend and you can do it from under the hood in 15 minutes.

I love this car so muchhhh I got a 2.5s, planning on keeping it NA for a while. Edit: I just hit 20k miles and the car hasn’t given me any issues, just kept up with routine maintenance and it has taken care of me. I’ve been from NY to CA and back a few times, no issues in any weather. My only regret is not getting the awd model but I can use some of that saved cash to do other things to it.

Had a 2020 mazda 3 premium, took it on 2 road trips. Both times all the cluster lights turned on while driving. The HUD would shake alot on rough roads. I also got a bad rotor/pad that got damaged, which the dealer refused to swap. Horrible experience at dealership for an oil change, they never did it, and registered it as they did. Other than that great car. Trying to buy a 2020 mazda 3 proffered atm, but dealerships are wanting 26k for a 21k advertised hatchback.

I've put 34xxx on my 2019 GS Hatchback, and I love this car, however there are some issues. There's not enough power. 186hp is terrible for todays "Sport" standards. The gearbox seems like it takes its time between 1st and 2nd at times, like it cannot figure it out. A/C refuses to blow cold most of the time. Put the throttle down and there's a delay between acceleration. Even after an ECU recall, I'm STILL to this day getting the exact warnings on my dash at 8:15 ... minus the blown transmission. I've chipped paint, bent a wheel, ($500 for a new one; fuck you Mazda) and cracked a windshield, its a string of bad luck. Other than that; the interior is absolutely beautiful. Very fun to drive on a twisty road or a track setting, and even with a lack of power it still is a blast to drive. When you're going fast, you're going FAST. Suspension feels great, however I just wish the car was lower. It sounds great! Even with a stock exhaust. It's still WILDLY quieter than I liked, so I grabbed the CorkSport exhaust. Cabin noise is virtually non-existent, they did damn good on that. Sound system is pretty good. Nice bass but it's not quite enough for me personally, even when adjusted to bass boosted. I haven't had any heat issues like you talked about with my first year yet, so here's hoping I love this thing personally, and I'm planning on a pretty nice build with it. Side fact I've owned this car for 2 years and I realized about 3 months ago you can adjust the angle of your headlights. I was mind blown loooool

@@kooble127 If I remember correctly, If you go into vehicle settings and go to Exterior Lights you'll have the option to adjust the headlights. I have it set down quite low, as SO many people mistake my lights for hi-beams. It's nifty man. I'm at work right now, when I get off work I'll edit this comment on how to properly do it.🤘

How's your suspension? Not handling but does it ride smooth or ruff? My suspension feels every little bump in the road. It only rides smooth on a flat steet.

Buddy I traded in my 2019 premium sedan after a year. Huge regret. Horrible paint. A/C blowing hot air even after TSB fix. HUD cover replaced twice and still rattled. Glove box rattle. A pillar squeaking with torque. Cowl and dash ripped open 3 times without a fix. Trunk rattle and not the subwoofer. And exactly what you said about the jerking. I had it immediately after the first stop. Also it would fight between 1st and 2nd gear like it couldn’t decide what to do. And finally a hesitation when letting off the brake to accelerate. Mazda opened up a file on that too. Keep in mind EVERYTHING was acknowledged and replicated by the dealer. Literally the worst car ever.

@@npetkopoulos262 Thank you so much for your honest report. I very recently decided to not go into debt over a 4th gen 3 hatch and while I enjoyed a 48 hour test drive with a 2019 3 hatch preferred with awd, I still had doubts. I fell in love with a polymetal ‘21 premium hatch with a 6 speed manual and then I backed away and bought a used 2016 tc 6 speed manual to save the money hoping I made a better bet on tried-and-true rather than risk something newer and be pissed about poor quality on something TWICE the price.

Interesting on the transmission. I've noticed my '22 (t, awd) acts weird hanging out at very low speeds too, almost like it wants to get out of first gear before 2k rpm unless you're giving it plenty of gas. Notice it most crawling around busy parking lots. But no funny business over 10ish mph and none from a stop getting back up to 25/35 mph. Surprised it completely broke tho, those transmissions are known to be pretty reliable. They've used it in everything for over a decade now.
