4th Gen RAM bed and bumper removal

Bed removal process on a 2018 RAM 3500 DRW MegaCab. Tools needed, bed bolt location, wiring. Also removing the rear bumper.

could you just unbolt thos 6 bedbolts and slide the bed back about 4-6 inches with everything else connected to replaced those MFing cabin pressure vents?

You would have to remove the rear bumper for sure. I really don't think you would be able to, so many of the wiring connections are short especially if you have a dually. The fuel neck would also be a limiting factor.

All in right now with labor (mine and others) and parts I think I am right around $9,500. The bed and fuel tank were about $3,000 of that.

Can you drive the truck around without a bed for a bit, or would you be a cop magnet?

I guess it depends on where you are in the country. Where I am I don't think anyone would care. However, I would be concerned about a rock coming back around and hitting the back window of the pickup.

Hi- I have a Ram 2022 3500 long bed dually - even same color as yours- that I need to use for car hauling / hot shot type business. Found a local repair shop who will remove the bed for me for a good price. I am not good at this like you :) My question, after removing the bed: Since all tail lights are located on the tailgate, I need place to install tail lights. Do I have to get the bumper removed as well? Or can taillights be installed on the frame above the bumper. Where can I buy compatible tail lights? Thank you 🙏

I'm a little confused with your question. The tail lights are not located in the tailgate. The tail lights are only wired and connect through the bed. The tailgate will have wires for the locks and camera, you should have a connection right below the tailgate to disconnect the wiring in the tailgate. You can get the bed and tailgate off without removing the bumper. However, I would remove the bumper if you are pulling the bed so you don't scratch the bed on the bumper on the way out. I would just stick with OE taillights.

If you have a good and easy way to lift the bed and no seized bolts maybe 15 min with an impact to zip things off after you break them free.

The bolts are a M12X1.75 with a 18MM head.

I don't know if there's a big difference between the filler neck on 2500's and 3500's but mine wouldn't budge. Had to disconnect at the tank and there is absolutely no slack in the hose. You've got to stand on your head to reach your hand in between the tank and the clamps.
