Great video. Changed my fuel pump today. One thing to note, I have a crew cab, so I still had to unhook the 2 straps and use a jack to lower the tank enough to replace the pump.

@@savagedolo2626 there's 2 straps that hold the tank in if your dropping it from below the truck. Taking the bed off you don't have to remove the 2 straps because your accessing it from the top of the truck

Truck’s back together now. I let pump prime a while and cranked it. It started right up, definitely think that was the fix. I had to buy new fuel line clips and a new electrical connector pigtail too. Fuel line clips: “dorman 800-015” Electrical connector: “Standard Ignition 4 Terminal Multi-Purpose Connector - S1410”

Seems like it might be dangerous to cut the bed .... all those sparks on the cut, and then ...re-weld it over the plastic pump parts on the gas tank? Seems dangerous. Maybe ok with some sort of well placed asbestos blanket or something.

Thought I'd look at this method and dropping the tank. My 12 model sometimes when I go to start it will start up, run a few seconds then stall. It may do it once, twice or three times (at least it's never happened more than 3) then it starts right up and runs fine. This is intermittent as sometimes it doesn't have the problem. I'm thinking the fuel pump is starting to fail and not developing enough initial pressure to start and keep running. I don't know what else would be wrong but pulling the tank or bed and that not fixing it would be a pain. Anyone have thoughts?

Hey dude, I have the same issues. This is my third fuel pump within a year so I’m thinking of doing a custom fuel tank and fuel pump. I could have some issue in the electrical front with too much resistance so the pump is working overtime with current burning it out. Anyways I’m thinking of doing a custom fuel cell with an accessible waterproof door to replace them easier lol
@aguilaleon1008 ай бұрын
What happened? Did you get aftermarket
@starstray43268 ай бұрын
@@aguilaleon100 Hi I got the same Trugrade fuel pump from autozone but I trouble shooted and discovered there’s a short in my fuse box along my relay. The pump is working continuously as my battery is powering the fuel pump and it’s pumping the fuel back to the tank as it’s designed to do with the engine not running. So I disconnect the battery every time I park until I can successfully figure out where my short is.
@aguilaleon1008 ай бұрын
Damn it, tough cookie. I just replaced mine with an oreillys one. It was perfect for about 3 weeks and i took the truck on 3 hour trip and check engine turned. Something about the Fuel pump high circuit sensor. Dont if its a faulty pump or some short. Before i replaced the pump i would turn the key and dash would turn off and on and wouldnt start until 2 or 3rd attempt.
@starstray43268 ай бұрын
@@aguilaleon100 is yours a 2012-2014? Chrysler designed the TIPM to have an internal fuel pump relay and it doesnt have an external 5 pin plug relay. You might have to take apart the fuse box and solder on a new relay. look up on youtube 2012 dodge ram TIPM fuel pump relay fix. When you have the TIPM apart also look for anything out of the ordinary like burnt out pins from the board this would indicate too much resistance and more current is being sent to bypass that part of the circuit. Another thing to try is to test the fuel pump to make sure they did not give you a bad one.
