I like the trial and error method you guys build by. I love GHPC's builds, they're incredible, but something I could never do because of the engineering involved. Not all of us are professional designers and have to just fiddle with stuff until it works. It's great seeing you guys try something. The "rest of us" get to learn along with you and it benefits us all!

@@1one3_Racing Problem is high quality weld tables are stupid expensive. They could ask around weld shops if they have an old one they would like to get rid of either at a discounted price or close to free. But these guys also have limited shop space. With that CNC plaz table they just got, they'll be running out of room fast.

Have a look at old Henry Ford designed setup used on the rear suspension on a Model A. You triangle mount both arms from the outer edges of the axle to a common centre ball mount in the body. Does away with all the bearings in the centre as you did. Design really goes back to the horse and buggy era.

Exactly. A vertical load will more effectively transmit the force on the shock and it would work out to be much less rigid. A perfectly vertical shock may jack the body higher up in the air than they would like though unless they design around.

It seems the way you have those shocks mounted now, as they compress they’re just putting themselves in a bind thus making them seem too stiff. Straight up and down would resolve your body interference issues and make the shocks work like they should. Just my two cents worth. I do enjoy your videos.

Remember in one of your previous builds, you were using the same shocks and the reason they were so stiff is because you mounted it at an angle. If you could remove some angle from the shocks to straighten them, it would loose some of that stiffness! Great job as usual guys!
@kshepthedrummer
@kshepthedrummer 4 жыл бұрын
Another option you could play with is "1/4 elliptical springs". It's basically half of a leaf spring for each corner. Also as far as sway bars go, they make small sway bars for the front of sport quads. That would be perfect sized if you need one.

You need a set of front Honda 300EX shocks or a set of Yamaha Warrior shocks or a set of Honda 400EX shocks and either of them will work perfectly for your application cause I’ve used them in very similar situations and according to what length you need the 300 shocks are the shortest and the 400 shock are the longest being 16 inch’s and I’m pretty sure the 300 shocks are 14-1/2 inches long and all 3 sets of shocks are easily found for rather affordable prices and they ride good and will take one hell of a beating. With the lean on those shocks, you have decreasing spring rate, meaning the more body roll it sees, the less the shocks/springs will resist roll. If looking to reduce rate, just move the lower mount closer to the chassis centerline, but either way you want it to continually get closer to 90* until bump limit is met, not get farther from 90*.
