Very good video. Good in-depth explanations and a good understanding of the spec. A lot of people mock frost for being really "easy", but it's actually a bit harder to master. Sure applying bombs, spamming procs and frostbolts is easy, but there is significantly more challenge in getting off the most possible casts, not wasting any procs, snapshotting your buffs with alter time, and maximizing the amount of casts per GCD. I ts a spec with a high skill cap, but also a very forgiving skill floor, so you often see frost mages out-performing in normal mode or in less skilled groups. In high ender heroic mode though i think fury warrior, survival hunter, destro warlock, and a couple other specs are a lot better. Still a great spec for progression though. As to evreliagaming though, my only disagreement in the guide is with Ice barrier. There are a lot of situations where its a lot better than temporal shield. One great example is on Thok, where ice barrier really helps your healers.

RE: Ice Barrier and Thok; Temporal Shield is still just as effective/if not better than Ice Barrier here. Unless you're running a low healthpool, taking 15% less damage from the Scream is more important.

Just a quick addition in aoe fights, like galakras, I cast a flame strike just b4 the tanks pull the adds into position before applying frost bomb/nt having that extra dot effect does help your dps over time. Learnt that from a seasoned mage in mount hygel. Also it was touched on very briefly here, I hold on to one icelance proc until I get a frostfire proc, firing icelance after a frostfire proc seems to boost it's damage. Of course fire when you have two procs or if it's about to time out.

If you have 2 pc tier 16 as a frost mage bank that one firngers of frost incase you get a instant frostfire as your ice lance does more damage when cast after ffb. If you get two fof procs then by all means spend one sasap but I have found it beneficial to bank that one proc away incase a free ffb comes up.

Was wondering, if PBoI doesnt proc in the opener, should you wait for it to proc and lose other procs that way or just use AT at 6 seconds on your other buffs? And if so, and PBoI procs inside AT, should you cancel alter time? That trinket is such a pain >.< Anyway great guide, find myself coming back to this very often. Cheers!

On opener (and most likely opener only), it's more important to make sure you're snapshotting the other buffs so ensure you have 6+ seconds on everything else when you pop AT; if PBoI procs it procs, if not oh well. If it procs during AT, yes you're better off using a "/cancelaura Alter Time" macro and losing the overall snapshot. Just pray that it either procs before AT or after, but yes it's a pain.

I don't really get it. You say that I should manage to get the haste cap and after that go for mastery. But in the gem examples in the video, there is none wth just intellect. Isn't intellect better than mastery?

At a 1:1 ratio, yes. But at a 2:1 ratio, no. Hence, because gems provide 320 secondary instead of 160 Intellect, gemming for secondaries is better DPS.

Not necessarily a DPS loss but because RNG is RNG and RPPM is as it is, it's not a gain. Holding onto Ice Lance procs can lead to a DPS loss over the course of a fight purely due to sub-optimal GCD spends.

I would really really like to know why I was removed from Warcraft Academy. I was given the link to this video by another WoW player. I followed the link here to Warcraft Academy, and downloaded the Cycobi UI from the linked download page. After installing the UI and noticing missing widgets, I created an account and posted at the Warcraft Academy forums. I was polite and reasonable. I thanked Cycobi for taking the time to upload his UI and simply asked if anyone could help enable the missing features. Thats all. Result: my post has been deleted, my account has been deleted. Password recovery says my username doesnt exist, and I get no reply from emailing the board admins as prompted. I have complete control of all my other online logins/passwords. I have not been hacked, and no one has access to my terminal to have manually deleted the account. Can you please explain to me what has gone wrong and why my forum posting was removed?

Its an incredible resource to the WoW community and id hate to lose the privilege of of using the site features. May I touch upon the question I had originally? Digging deeper into the UI files you provided Ive found its kgPanels that isnt performing as I see in this page's video. Specifically the splatrings.tga graphic is not displaying the blue & white numbers 1 & 2 graphics inside, I believe the number images may be missing from the .rar file? Also, in the video above the splatrings graphic is a large constantly changing number ranging from 30-90 and changing color from blue to red. Looks like it could perhaps be a tick timer for mage bomb? This is also missing from the downloaded UI. Could you please identify this feature of the UI? Is it possible to get any missing graphic files or suggestions how to get the installed UI looking more like what we see in this video? Thank you

logansfury The 1 + 2 numbers aren't from kgPanels, they're WeakAuras and as I haven't updated the UI (working on a completely new one at the moment) they're missing the Frost Mage WeakAuras. However, if you look at my pastebin at pastebin.com/u/Cycobi, you'll find the necessary files there. The number above the splatrings is a mana percentage indicator.

Cycobi EU hey there i downloaded your UI package (shown somewhere in the comments) however my Kgpanels doesnt show my fingers of frost procs in the middle of KGpanels SplatRings (it does however show combo points on my rogue for some reason) ive been trying to figure out for the past 2 days whats causing this or how to change it but no luck so far. I'm wondering if there's a custom script that you are using for it or maybe you know a way to fix it? tried google but to no luck. Thanks in advance ^^

Gustavo Parrado Make sure to go thru the whole thread on the cycobiUI at Warcraft Academy, to get as close as possible to the UI you see here in this frost mage video. There are 3 steps: 1) download the .rar from the original post, and install to your WoW (back up your interface,cache, and WTF first, the initial change can be dramatic) :) 2) follow down to Cycobi's response to myself and a second forum commenter with a 2nd pastebin URL to copy the aura to import/replace that will enabe the fingers of frost graphic in the KGpanel splatring graphic 3) ingame, use /wa to open weakaura's options, scroll down to the unloaded auras, find aura named "Mana%" and go to its load condition triggers. As posted its set for Arcane Mage spec only, just uncheck the spec option and the mana percent graphic will properly display for your frost mage as you see in the video above.
