Actually, Wilt’s claim is a bit more crazy when you consider that his best friend said after his death that Wilt told him in confidence that he actually didn’t lose his virginity until 21, and making the claim at 55 years old, that gives him an absolute maximum of 34 years. That puts the total closer to 2 per day. The man was full of lies, though. He also claimed to hold his breath for 5 minutes while driving cross country and bench 750 pounds.

The first story you talked about is a good memory of mine. I was in a bad car accident earlier that day. They gave me a pain killer shot. My parents brought me home and had made a pallet for me to sleep on in front of the TV so I could watch the super bowl with my dad. I remember watching and seeing President Bush, Clinton, I think Carter was there too, and another president walking onto the field and then I passed out and slept through the entire game until the very last play. I woke up as the last play was already underway.

Honestly, I think Wiley is telling the truth, that he hit the QB 17 times. Keyword: *hit* the QB, as in hit him during what we would call "roughing the passer" today alongside sacks and tackles. During some of his interviews about it, I don't think he quite understood what a sack was, tbh. I just think he thought it was when you hit a QB, and he very particularly would say he *hit* the QB.

From them beating the US 10-0 to win the 2014 World Cup (which they didn't even qualify for) to Kim Jong Un beating Dennis Rodman in a pickup basketball game to them wanting to make legendary pro wrestler "Nature Boy" Ric Flair coach of their Olympic wrestling team after WCW did a tour there in 1995 (Yes WCW did do a tour there which was paid for by the North Korean government which itself is insane) the amount of ridiculous stories to come out of that country is incredible.

Wilt’s 20,000 estimate may be statistically improbable, but a body count in the many thousands is easily possible. He became a big star right as birth control, recreational drugs, and women’s ‘personal’ empowerment all happened, and before AIDS put that brakes on things for a while. Just taking 1 to 2 women home from the bar after every game could account for almost 2,000 during his playing career.
