What's funny is this technique is completely legal as it doesn't over stress the parts despite everyone saying that it is.

I feel like these could be used for an excellent visual on tolerance stack up. Every brick should theoretically perfectly fit locking in so that curving like this would be impossible, but we can live in a theoretical world. So when we make it we give each brick a tolerance range, and part of that range is a tendency to have each brick a tiny bit short, because if they are long they won't fit, but short just means a small gap. Those gaps allow bricks to angle just a little bit. Over dozens of bricks that are all in tolerance, a structure can form that is massively out of tolerance.

Now that was satisfying

Is it still trial and error for you or do you know by this point how many bricks you'll need for a full circle? There's still editing involved after all, but it looks really impressive the way things fit right away when connecting the ends.

There's still a level of trial and error but only because I'd rather not do the calculations. I don't save that much time, and it's pretty easy to build it and 'see' if it's perfectly symmetrical or not. Although with this build I created the final build first and then used that as my template for all the smaller builds it contains.
