A thing I see a lot in a online matches is that people don't use their shield effectively. They do shield, BUT they let go of it too early (I see them do this way too often). I have no idea if others have this issue as well, but I actually have a kinda bad habit of always releasing shield to use an out-of-shield option, even if I dont need to. It's lost me quite a few games over time, haha. I still do it even now. For me, the airdodge, shield, and ledge options are most important to know. Like you said, and it pains me, but people on elite love to just drool on their a buttons. I hardly EVER see people shield in neutral or shield and play a little defensively out of their disadvantage. Same thing goes for people who spam airdodge out of combos or jump from ledge. Online, its extremely hard to punish sometimes due to latency. However, in a normal setting it would be called out immediately. Thanks for pointing stuff like this out! Agree with everything you said except a little of the bit about “knowing what your kill moves are”. I do think it’s important but on for a certain range of damage percentage. Considering that most of the time you won’t get a kill at early percent and are almost guaranteed a kill at any hit around higher percentages like 170+ (rough estimate), you can get by with not focusing so much on those kill moves in certain situations. It’s definitely a good thing to know about, but i don’t think its necessarily a thing to here “I need to focus on doing this immediately” when fighting

1-2) more than second Jump i spam airdodge but yeah Will mix that up 3) sometimes shielding a lot Is a problem too tho What you are doing againist a Ganondorf or a captain Falcon Who can punish you for shielding too much... But dashdancing as an offensive option Is bad yeah 4) oh yeah fortunately i know all of those 5) already do this

I know dash dancing can be punished very easily, but what about on inkling? I think dash dancing is pivotal in neutral for them because of their ambiguous dashing animation and it's very important for mixups
@JulesTrades5 жыл бұрын
I should have added it's really good on inkling, but that's the one exception. sometimes though even still people use it as a be all end all, when it isn't. like instead of good fundamentals. but yeah inkling has the best dash free,

Ah for me the bane of my gameplay is almost no grabbing! Idk how you’re supposed to do it but I can never successfully grab. I space too much and never land close enough to grab or they’ll hit me or dodge before I can. I wish I could grab more because I’ve mastered pressuring my appointment to shield a lot (I main ROB.) so I needa figure that out. Anyone know what I could do?
@ElementUser5 жыл бұрын
You have to know what range and situations your opponent likes shielding at. If you're using your specials at long range they will likely shield. You have to mix up your special usage at medium to short range sometimes by combining them with movements so they know that they are vulnerable to your specials at this range too. Then when they shield in these situations is when you can go for a grab. Also doing aerials on them will likely make them shield or get out of your aerial range
@noahjimenez52905 жыл бұрын
ElementUser yeah that sounds about right! I don’t really do specials in short range but definitely use my ariels. But when I come down on them they usually sidestep or a I do a dash grab and miss and get punished. Maybe I should fast fall without the nair or fair? But yeah I will definitely try my laser and gyro at shorter range! Thanks!
@ElementUser5 жыл бұрын
@@noahjimenez5290 there is a particular range of distance where a projectile character's options are a little ambiguous, especially when mixed in with ambiguously intentioned movement. Players can perform movement patterns like B-reverse specials or a short hop into a special, but drifting back slightly after the jump instead of drifting 100% towards the opponent with the special, and so forth.

I believe staling only counts on your last 9 landed attacks. So moves that do little damage that are fast can be used to reset scaling like ness down tilt or sheiks pummel

correct, the queue of stale moves holds 10 moves in total.

My worst habit is losing my spirit. Not even being salty. Smash just makes me feel like the biggest idiot on Earth. It's weird that I feel great in other games, but feel like a worthless piece of shit in Smash, a party Nintendo game.

Yo I feel the exact same way. It looks so fun to be decent at and I’ve played many fighting games but I just suck ass at smash. Seems like a 10 year old can pull off anything I do better. It’s rare for me to even be able to pressure my opponents cuz it seems like any option I go for they have perfect spacing and the perfect move and I just get wrecked over and over

If I'm not mistaken, don't the attacks you used get resetted to full damage again after you use 10 other attacks or so? I remember seeing somewhere that the game keeps track of your last 10 moves.

Hey! Loved this video, specially kill percentages and ledge options... Got one question. Is it worth getting a gamecube controller for smash? (Currently playing with pro controller)
@DannyFong5 жыл бұрын
It's only worth playing what you're comfortable on and having enough buttons to do all the things you want to. A pro controller is great. A gamecube controller is often preferred because some people have been playing smash since Melee and it's nice to have your controller stay the same. Don't get a new controller, just practice playing the game with what you have.

pro controller is totally fine. Zackray is one of the best in the world and wins with pro controller.

Hey Jtails, can you make a video on top level player mind tricks. I know it’s a super deep topic that is hard to understand. But if you give a few examples i think it could really help on how to understand how top players, even at locals use small unique mind tricks on their opponents.

All this information is stressful to learn. How can anyone remember all of this & execute them successfully? It sucks losing all the time & never getting better after hours of playing the game & losing. Is it really possible to just play the game only for hours on end in hopes to get better? I just need some hope that its possible.
