It’s pretty much to your taste, but traditionally, aperitifs (before the meal) are not too strong and have to have some bitterness in the form of Campari, for example, to stimulate the appetite. And digestives can be stronger and/or sweeter like a dessert, cause you’ve had your food. Something like that.
