"Coffee tastes better out of a cup you actually like." True. Absolutely true. Decluttering for me is a hard. So I need an additional box for the things I can not decide right now wether I should let them go or keep. On one hand that speeds up the process for me, on the other hand, I have to go through it again later, which is, of course, slower overall. But: While I sometimes take something out of it, most of the items I would have kept in this box will go away.

empty home-empty mind; great for those who do nothing with their lives. 95 percent of what I own is used 5 percent of the time and saves me 95 percent of money wasted on not having what I need when I need it.

I like decluttering, having less centimental items and just overall have a cozy and functional space. However at some point it becomes habit and you move on. The hard part is when you realize you need to work on being content and that not everything is perfect. One of the things that help with spending is also to allow yourself to just live. Im allowed to upgrade or change things in my room if it brings me long term enjoyment. Dometimes needs change. I used to be a very centimental person and things are so hard to let go. However I realized the why. I do not forse myself to go trough that right now, but in the future I will just have a vew items I totally love. Also when I was a chold I had a weekly allowance for stuff and every 6 month I got my clothing budget. Plus a nice gift about 3 times a year. I want to do this again. To realisticly give myself these catogories so I can enjoy my life. People sonetimes save a lot of money or have to pay of debt fast. I think why? If you can make a plan where your needs are met, once you are done you do not have the issue of wanting to splurge big time. Also if you have people in your life(no everyone has this) sometimes it helps when you narrow down your needs and what you look for because if ppl know you are looking for somethibg sometimes you get it gifted. Patience and making it more difficult for yourself to shop is defenetly sonething you can deside on your own. I do not like shopping so this works great for me. However if you live shopping you can give yourself a list and shop fysically with a budget like 2/3 times a year. Maybe limit the amount of items you are bringing home.

hay. im not a minimalist per se, it is, too extreme for myslef as i don t go for extremes in life, i m a zen being, and points you make in this video apply to zen in a way as well so i find it very informative. my mother however, shes a clutterer, and i know if she was rich she would be a hoarder, thats how bad is gotten with her, and the sad part about it is, thats shes in denial, she ll deny being a clutterer and would say im making it all up. now if your a stranger you d beleive her, but if you d see her place ... well, llike they say the proff is in the pudding ...

The first step in decluttering your home is to understand the total cost/value of your home divided by its total ££$$ per square foot. You then need to identify from your furniture/belongings does this item 'earn' the square footage that it accommodates in your home or is it living there rent free. If the later is the answer, then you need to sell or donate it.

This video came at the right time, and that coffee mug rule really struck a chord 😂 Here in Portland, I find myself picking up so many mugs, tote bags, and random containers for my space. While it's aesthetically pleasing + exciting to have new finds it can definitely clutter things up real quick! Also very calming camera work friend. Cheers from the PNW 🌲

I’ve hit those periods where I might be away from my house and in my mind I’m set to get rid of all sorts of things but then when it’s in my hands, my mind starts to break down. I’d love to just toss items like crazy in a rage and then it’s all gone. Only then would I really start to think about items when I really needed them. I could think of new ways to obtain that item. Even borrowing so I don’t have to spend more money. I tried once packing a bunch of items away into a few boxes. After a couple months, it should have been time to just get rid of the boxes but instead I started to open them to see what all I stuffed inside. Then things started to come back out 😭

Minimalism is a cultural change. We think from an early age that ‘things’ = success, achievement, what you’re supposed to aim for.

Decluttering and getting rid of stuff is such a dopamine rush, and even more so when you are able to sell things you’re getting rid of. You get that dopamine rush of getting rid of it but also a little rush from making some money in the process

The problem with minimalism is current rampant inflation. If you keep your savings in money, they will lose more value then if you would acquire something today, even if you don't use it immediately.

Yeah. Some things can last years. If you buy or aquire it now you do not have to worry about the price doubling or tripling in the next vew months. Price of bread has doubled, toiletpaper and chicken/eggs. Its hardly doable. Clothes are still afordable second hand so im trying to get sone wool weathers and blankets for the winter. Any t-shirts that are cotton or hodies. I might just get thermo wear. Then you can wear thin clothes all year around but have a warm underlayer in winter. I also want a hobby that is a 1 time purchase. Still working on that one. Me and my bf dont do subscribtions anymore. He spends his free time downloading fims and putting it on a hard drive. We have plenty of movies now we can choose for our at home cozy beamer movie night.

I use Minimal Mom's onion method. I divide my small house into 4 sections (kitchen 1, bathrooms office 1, etc). Go through each area in one week decluttering and cleaning as I go, then the next one, and so one. I do this over and over. Each go around cleaning is easier, and so is decluttering. The first time around, it's easy decluttering. The second it's harder but you've had a week to think. I'm on go around 2. We donated 7 bags of stuff yesterday (mostly blankets). It's nice and my house stays pretty clean for the most part.

As ever great video again mate! I deffo did the 4 box method, apart from I only had three boxes so the floor was the 4th box 😂 I’m working on being way more aggressive with choosing what I keep and what I get rid of. Always feels like a weight off your shoulders when you declutter.
