How much can you improve overall strength without packing on too much muscle mass? Say for boxers, mma fighters who will be competing in weight classes? Soccer players need to be able to run and cover 10-12km in a game in season, 1-2 times per week. All athletes would benefit from being stronger , more explosive, powerful of course but is there a way to improve brute strength and power without adding 2,3,4kg of muscle mass? Or would this be down to the nutrition side?

So if you play football and with power cleans being one of the best exercises for explosion and speed but you don't have a bar for that, what is a good substitute that doesn't use a free bar. (I use a gym in my neighborhood but it has a ton of machines and only one with a barbell is the smith machine, or should I wake up earlier drive to a gym and invest in a gym membership to get the barbell to be able to hit those explosive movements?)

@@GarageStrength thanks I will check that out. I believe the game is becoming a game full of athletes now. The pace and power the elite players are producing is frightening. If you could maybe do something about best training schedule for the players gym work whilst remaining fresh for their actual on field training. As I said most weeks you play a game Saturday, rest days Wednesday and sunday, training days Monday Tuesday Thursday Friday . Could you make strength and power gains in season?

@@GarageStrength would you concentrate on strength sessions for 1-4 reps to minimise DOMS for training and steer clear of the 8-20 rep ranges. Keep everything quick on the eccentric phases of the leg exercises?

Off topic but can you a vid on how to build speed and endurance for offensive lineman I got the size 6ft2 350 but I don’t have to speed my coach wants me to work on that and get faster I’m have the strength just not the speed and endurance after 10 minutes of sprinting with breaks I get burned out fast like my legs don’t fell tired they hurt after after a half lap on the track we have work outs mon , tue,fri off season I think my main problem is losing a little weight I think to run at optimal proficiency I need to drop about 50 pounds before start of the season become more agile and it’s my first year playing football im 24 going on 15 and still growing what should I do about this lose the weight or work on endurance he wants me to play varsity but I don’t know the way I’m doing know I don’t know but then again I’m not the weakest on the team I’m one of the slowest but in terms of strength I’m a beast on power cleans don’t have to jump but I’m also a big guy I think it’s nervous and other things I like the work outs and drills but I just hold the team up

Hello Coach, What you think about focus on built some max strenght, and then after some weeks, reduce the max strenght training and start to focus on produce power with more plyometrics exercises ? Or you recommend to focus on just one type of training everyday ? Aprecciate if you could answer. I'm from brasil 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
