I remember in the beginning of my car buying days where they would get all of this paperwork together and want me to sign after glancing over it! I said, dude give me some numbers so I can go home and verify your numbers! I see so many people just signing the contract! Folks, its your money, not theirs

If I can't get a pre-purchase inspection on a used car then I don't care what the return policy is, I'm walking. If a dealership won't let you get that inspection then how easy to deal with do you think they will be come return time? A customer's greatest advantage is before they hand over the cash. Trying to negotiate or alter the deal afterwards and you are at the mercy of the dealership.

You learn alot watching these guys! I had gotten to the point where i would make sure that the dealer wouldn't add 'credit insurance' and outsourcing warranties to the deal before watching these guys! I had no idea that I was still being ripped a new one! 😅

Hello Ray and Zach Just wanted to let you know I am so fed up with the car dealerships and their mark ups that I decided to just buy one of the new model three Tesla‘s for 28,000 and change. Maybe I’m just an example of what customers are going to do in the future if they’re going to just give up on the car dealerships

As a former car sales man i will always inform the people that asked what the true price was I always will tell them the expected drive out price with tax title and license fees included since those can't be avoided thankfully dealer adds where already on attach price on the car sticker and also online.

How about calling in & asking who the 'Senior Sales Person' is? I've had good luck with that mode of ops so long as they don't try & pawn me off to one of their underlings. Seems like often in the large urban dealerships (that are like Grand Central Station) the receptionists don't even know who the sales people are (they both change out like water).

My daughter has purchased 3 different vehicles from Car Max. They have (or use to) a 30 day return policy, you can exchange it for another vehicle or get a full cash refund. She has taken advantage of this policy twice, once for an exchange and once for a full refund. I’m just curious whether they still have this policy with the current car market.

Here's a trick. Take your current car to the service department for an oil change. While you're waiting browse the show room and the lot, you're not looking for a car mind you. Talk to the sales people, different ones, chat about cars, talk about football. If you have good instincts you can pick the AHole from the good person. The A-hole will push you to buy now and today, the good sales person will show you what's available, talk about the cars, show interest in your needs. Trust me, they have plenty of time to do that, they pretend they're busy, they aren't.

It may not apply to this video but I wanted to share with everybody I was looking at a dealer website looking for a used vehicle so when you click on price details it says they charge 12% sales tax the dealer and I reside in Ky. Which sales tax is 6%. I texted them about it they say they would charge the appropriate tax rate for your state. I am trying to figure my OTD price before I go to the dealer. Sounds fishy to me. Oxmoor Toyota Louisville Ky..

We just bought a car out of state and they charged the tax rate for our home state. Supposedly they pay your state the sales tax when they file for your registration.

I am wondering if the new policy pertaining to tax credit for EV (i.e., transfer of credit for new clean vehicle to the dealer) will cause even more unethical behavior at dealers? It would be useful to have a video on the topic. Thank you

It sounds like a lot of your info deals with bigger dealers. The smaller dealers don’t seem to have the clout so to speak, so getting to use these questions might prove difficult. Is there a different options or just be careful

How about asking your salesman, what kind of a car they drive, if they believe in their own product, they should be driving it.

It's not matter of using my brain, but if they believe in their own product, they should be driving at least an older model, I have been shopping cars for 40 years and I always ask them, they caught in a surprise, and I get an upper hand when i want to deal with the sales person.

If you go into a dealer and ask about dealer add-ons to negotiate a price based on the inflated prices on the add-ons in many cases they will tell you to walk. Based on the lack of inventory, there are plenty of buyers who will gladly overpay for these add-ons and for even the "market adjustments". This is what helped drive (pun intended) the auto crisis over the last two years. Let's be real, two genres of sales folks; older, retired from another career or some young inexperienced, immature gear head. Expect little integrity from either. And just wait until you get into the finance office, if you make it that far.

Went to a Genesis dealer to looked at a GV70 with 20 minutes to closing and my 83 year old just widowed father was kicked out rudely. He was told to come back later as all he wanted to do was look at it. (Not sit in it or drive just 👀) he was skeptical about this brand and was push out early. The staff closed 15 minutes early and lied about closing time…

All car sales people are crooks and taught to be crooks. A car dealer only hires crooks or people with no conscience. This mindset goes through every department of the dealer. These people in this video know this.

Have bought 2 vehicles from AN dealerships in last 3 years. 1 was a lease return vehicle that had a more than a dozen faults in the system when I got the car home & plugged into it. They had put an AN battery in the car & that was not listed on the CarFax or any records that were disclosed to me. Their carfax/maintenance history sheet tendered to me listed the car had & oil/filter service done & the maintenance minder was zero'd out when I looked at the car... the oil & filter most definitely had NOT been changed. The oil was black as coal. I had just come off 2 years of ownership of the exact model car (it got totalled) & I did the oil changes on that one. I knew how long new oil looks new/newer in that engine & so seeing black as coal oil I knew for a fact the oil change had not been done.

Thanks for your advice. I was nursing my 2010 TDI but at over 312,000 km gave up when the diesel particulate light went on. I managed to buy a Subaru Crosstrek that someone else had ordered but the financing fell through. I remembered you talking about how Subaru hadn’t raised their prices as high as other manufacturers. After 27 years of VW, I moved on. I can’t believe that VW is now charging $165 (Canadian) an hour for labour! Cars are insane right now!

This is great as always. Thank you, hopefully this would help me and many others. Aside from this does anyone knows a good insurance? I have state farm but I feel is a ripped off. My car is a 2009 Rav4 2009 it has 95k, and the insurance went up to 220. I love in NYC but damn thats never a new car

You CANNOT pick the salesperson to work with. They are on a rotation basis. Any receptionist could also be "favored" by a smart sales rep who gives her $20 for each phone in referral. I know, I did it.

I'm sorry you think everyone is you and wants to bend the customer over but my deal was a clean exchange for sticker price without dealer adds both times. Cheers to you thinking everyone wants to be you and have no clientele!

You are no match for our skills honed daily as we create “comfort kittens” like you to feed from. But don’t worry, we do good by donating to various charities and even giving a free car (slightly used) to a local who really is in a bad way. Happy shopping!

They will give the price over the phone or internet...maybe not every one but purchased many trucks this way in last 4 years...all of them were via text or email....negotiations did not happen in 1 day though (except for 1).....it took some time and was in contact with several at same time How you do it is important.... If they insist you come in don't even bother move to the next one....its a cat & mouse game.... Plenty of dealers do business this way...bought 7 since 2020....
