Andy Warhol did that, or something like it. He would clear everything off his desk, no matter what it was, into a box and call it a "time capsule". There were receipts, rotting applecores and the like. You name it. After his death there were like 600 they had to go through. But mainly I agree. I've done the same thing before.

There are a couple things that need to be noted, the reasoning for not eating at your space is because not only can it cause a mess but it also causes your brain to make a psychological link relating your desk to eating. The same logic is why you should have a sperate study area to your room because your brain ties the room to sleep. ideally, you shouldn't really be in your room except for bed activities.

Nice, simple and practical tips. My only gripe would be the window which I don't currently have a nice scenery access. :) I'd prefer that too if not for some of the following problems: the UV rays will definitely degrade equipment so make sure that the sun is always facing away from your window. If not, install a ceramic tint to deflect most of the UV rays. I'd rather have windows behind me these days so that I need to stand and stretch & walk around hehe... Plus my current setup is (2) ultra-wide monitors with one large monitor / TV above so that doesn't give me much choice but to mount them all. Too cluttered to have a window behind all that. Got into RGB lighting too just recently. Great for the evenings or low-light conditions. Important to have a wall behind to deflect all the backlighting. ;) Cheers mate!

I just use a computer desk that has built in bookcase and file cabinet and the under place for the pc to go. On the top of my desk are the speakers to an old Logitech 5.1 surround sound system and the comcast cable modem. to hide those cords I twist tied them and attached them to the backside of the shelf. I have a 22 inch LG IPS monitor attached to the side of my desk using a vesa mount swing arm that lets me move to get to cables and that allows me to use a lot of my desktop as a desktop for writing things down. My Logitech 810 and my brand new Logitech 903 gaming periphs are on a keyboard drawer that slides away.

How do you cope with only 1 monitor
@AtomicCitizen
@AtomicCitizen 7 жыл бұрын
There are a number of cases where a single monitor aids in productivity. Multiple input angles break concentration, particularly in graphics creation or design aspects. Watching the matrix is not always as beneficial as it seems.

I'm the opposite, I used to vouch by multiple monitors then moved back to a single monitor and now I feel that I focus a lot better with just a single display.

heres a question for other viewers, when you guys watch these tech videos, or any videos that relate to your interests, does it bother you seeing tech related ads? i assume many people use adblock, which doesnt work for built in ads, i personally dont mind because the ads are always related to what im watching

i have a black L shaped desk so its much easier to keep things looking sleek imo lol white just makes my eyes hurt. i also use a keyboard slide out instead of having it directly in front of my monitor, i have a DIY monitor stand as well that i made from cardboard from the monitor's box and i painted it black with dustings of other spray paint to make it match to the black desk but still stand out nicely
