@James Watts Oddly, I have Lalique's Encre Noir and also Encre Noir A L'Extreme and I've had several compliments from those. The other one that gets me tons of compliments is Guerlain's Santal Royal.

@James Watts Everyone around me complimented me when it comes to Encre Noire, which is more often that with other "compliment getting" fragrances. I don't think Encre Noire being divisive is actually true. I think it's because people who actually test it have problem with either cypress in the beginning or vetiver in the middle but when your coworkers actually smell the drydown (mix of clean wood and cypress) now that's heavenly.

Guilty Black is the fragrance that my girlfriend picked out for me. I’ve bought many others since then (and I see now why people think this one is generic) but GGB is still one of her favorites out of all the others. Will I replace it? Probably. There’s something to be said for a fragrance you can wear any time anywhere.

Oh Lord, Gucci Envy. The scent that was hated into oblivion back in 1998 when it came out, and now it's super desired, and can set you back as much as 400$ if you want a bottle. I won't lie, I also want it, primarily from the bottle, but I'm also a fan of its complex pyramid, a nice contrast to modern streamlined fragrances.

bought Gucci guilty black as my first expensive fragrance, it won my nose over everything else at macys. didnt see many reviews on it afterwards. now that my collection includes over 20 fragrances, I have nothing else that smells quite like it. i relate it to Irish spring deodorant/ body wash. but it lasts for hours. smells so masculine. buyit!
