I couldn't help it but write this comment after I watched your explanation about this/that these/those, Wow! I can't believe it I now can use them properly! I'd been looking for the rule for some time but I didn't find any until now. So glad that I found your channel but I wish that you would make videos about American English phrases and expressions as well. As the British ones wouldn't help everyone as much as the mutual expression would. Cheers!

Greetings from Serbia. I got four out of five hehe. This and that were not so tricky... "This" changes to "that" when turning sentences from direct into indirect speech because the time reference changes, so this is kind of silmiliar... The first sentence is basic grammar as well. (I am a fourty-year old man, or I am fourty years old...) Thank you for the amazing content. I found your channel by chance a couple of days ago. What a jewel! Thank you Sir.

I have watched so many videos which seemed determined to make me waste my time, being titled something like "advanced english : mistakes you are definitely making without knowing" and yet featuring only elementary problems. It was incredibly annoying, and so common that, after having wasted time with enough of those videos, I was wondering if perhaps the problem was with me. Once you reach a certain level, there isn't much left. It seemed that trying to improve my english with videos was pointless. I still tried this one because I remembered liking other videos from your channel when I first came across it looking for alternatives to "really", "probably", and others words too commonly used. I am glad I did watch it ! It reminded me that I do still have things to learn. And, along with your other videos, it helped to take me down a peg : after watching so many "advanced" english videos without learning anything new I was feeling far too smug with myself ^_^' It's nice to finally find things I did wrong and can improve upon ! :) I also like the fact that your videos are entertaining, yet not overly distracting with over-the-top entertainment (unlike some others which I won't name, because this is a matter of personal preference, and not of objective quality).

Hi teacher! Welcome back! Your voice is breaking, maybe because of the weather; you said it was cold. Yes, you are right! I have been making all of these mistakes! 😬 Thank you for this lesson! By the way, regarding the vertical garden: I have heard, I think it is in China that they are making the same but using the structure (pillars) from the bridges, to clear the air in the city.
@LetThemTalkTV

You won't make those mistakes any more. No, it wasn't cold just a little chilly. We need more gardens, vertical and horizontal.

It's always a pleasure to learn english with your videos. I found a violation of the rule #3 of this lesson in a book written by a guy whose name I forgot. He wrote : " To be, or not to be, that is the question " . This sentence is referring to the present ,so we must use the pronoun "this" instead of "that". 😄

You're always right ; we all make grammar mistakes ( you are the only one who doesn't make mistakes , because you are a perfect teacher ) but THANKS TO YOU , we're trying to correct these mistakes.... Well ,i can't stop say thank you enough because you're trying to help us to go deeper into everything about the language english. This video lesson was a nice hit ! There is something you might want to understand Gideon and i'm not kidding ... YOU ARE SUCH A GENIUS ; yes ,that's right. In addition to the mistake with the verb 'go', there's also a comma splice mistake in the last example (No5), and there should be a semicolon or a full stop after the word 'today' to make it correct.

Hi Gideon. Great video, as always. I must say I'm quite discombobulated by your explanation about the difference between "come" and "go", as I've always thought it lay in the position of the speaker/writer rather than in the movement towards the listener/reader. For example, if I say "Could you come over?", it means to where I am, not to where the listener is.
@LetThemTalkTV
@LetThemTalkTV 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment but "could you come over?" is asking the listener to move to the direction of the speaker". "Could I come over" I asking for permission to move to the direction of the listener. I hope the discombobulation is somewhat reduced
