Thanks. Wondering if you ever experienced a loud popping noise in the audio of your R5? I experience it almost every time I use the video feature. It's typically in the first few seconds of recording when the camera is cold, so usually easy to edit out. I did a Google search to see if others have had this issue and discovered a few references, but not a lot of mentions. eg. If you Google: "Canon R5 pop", there is one reference on the dpreview forum site. I did a series of tests to narrow down the conditions that apply when this happens, as follows: 1. Using the Video Record button while in the Stills mode. ie Defaults to the C3 movie settings. 2. Using the internal Mic (I believe it happens with an external mic as well, if it is close to the camera and the gain is high.) 3. The camera is not warmed up. eg. After about 30s of recording, need to power down for several minutes before it happens again. It seems to happen with different lenses, regardless of lens switch settings and digital stabilisation is off.

That’s such a strange issue. I haven’t personally experienced it on my copy. Have you got any closer to getting it sorted?

@@MichaelDrowley No. I should check with Canon support. I am using the external mic more frequently, which has the advantage of better quality and no lens noise, but is much less convenient, because it uses the hot shoe and I frequently have a flash on the hot shoe. My solution is to use a flash bracket for the mic and use the camera hot shoe for the flash, but very inconvenient. On one occasion the mic was not fully plugged in and I lost most of the audio.
