I disagree with the idea of 'official' dans, because it will be really convoluted on other modes and prone to bias by the poolers. Besides, on mania itself dans are mostly regular or LN... which are two different skillsets. Anyway 5K+1 documentation when

Dans themselves are cool I love the idea of having a badge for them after all it’s like a karate belt or a massive accomplish or goal. don’t get me wrong but if osu wanted to have official dans for their modes it would have to be almost in a system like Bemani does with their games like SDVX where there are like 50 different Dan set lists over all the games you can play each having different songs and charts but still rewards you with the same Dan badge. It’s why I hate the 4k and 7k Dan courses as they require you to get to a certain skill in a specific type of style of the 4 types of maps if that makes sense. For example with the JJ dans if we look at the jack maps from 6-8th their difficulty all stem from different jack styles. 6th is faster. 7th is more stamina draining. 8th is more ‘jank?’ It’s why I think dans are just such a bad way at looking at someone’s skill level as there is only 1 possible selection for said level and that cuts out all aspects of a player mindbocking a map or being more developed in a different style of stream. A system like this will also prevent players from playing the exact same Dan over and over because once they clear 7th Dan they could choose to try to clear other 7th Dan course lists before trying to go for 8th.
