Bill, you are simply amazing and a pioneer. I am addicted to your channel! I know you have been at this a long time, but if you can do more step-by-step tutorials, it will really help us newbies. For example, you probably don't think twice about that simple drum track, but many of us would probably like for you to show us how to set that up and loop it.

I like the Blue Cat plug ins. Extra tip for the Amp, click the wave form-looking icon in the lower right corner of the UI to load your own impulse response. Or drag and drop the IR onto the plugin. It is supposed to load any IR, though I have only used speaker IRs, haven't tried reverb or any others. This feature isn't really clear from the interface, and who RTFMs anymore, right?

@@chordsoforion I've been an Affinity user for almost two years now I guess. I use Affinity Photo and Luminar 4 for Photos, Affinity Designer and Publisher for design and documents, and Davinci Resolve studio for video. I don't miss Adobe in the least. Davinci Resolve is one of the best changes I've ever made in my workflow. $300 buys an awful lot of speed boost!

@@chordsoforion Hah, funny! I've watched enough of the videos to realize that the foundation of ambient guitar is delay, reverb, and a looper/loopers - so I really don't know where my comment came from. Maybe it was something particular to the specific patches in each effect.

Hi Bill - Another awesome and really useful video ! ! ! Thanks for sharing some of your " trade secrets " ! One question please Bill ...........Is there any set order of inserting these into the channel for recording in the same way as you recommended your pedal order ? Thanks again - Best Regards . . . Eddie.
@chordsoforion
@chordsoforion 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Eddie - In general, I would use the effects in an order similar to pedals. For example, I would place delay plugins after amp modeling, and reverbs would generally be last. But as always, experimenting with order is a good thing. You may find a unique sound you really like.

Very nice little jam/soundscape, as usual. Amazingly great sound from these freebies. Reminds me somewhat of the Hologram Microcosm in terms of simultaneous multi-fx. I was wondering what your chord progression was for the piece at the end (with the drums); I can’t make it out on the baritone, but it worked particularly well with these fx. Also what was the order of the fx (as presented perhaps)?
@chordsoforion
@chordsoforion 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Steve! The transposed chord progression on a standard guitar would be Em / Dadd9 / Cadd9. The order of effects is indeed in the order presented.

How about the same video for iOS? I have a modest collection of great effect pedals, like the Zoia and CBA pedals, but I find myself using Mixbox on iOS devices since I am recording into them anyway. Recording into Borderlands granular with Eventide apps after is a pretty good sound. Maybe not audiophile quality, but more than adequate.

If it were me, I would just stay in the box for everything and send the computer audio interface outputs to a pair of powered full range speakers that would act as an amp.
