Thank you so much for this tutorial! I am a rock musician (and at heart a jazz head...) who is making the transition to writing for a potential television series that is in the vein of 'Top Gear' but more than just cars...This music is beautiful and has always been a complete mystery to me. You have really opened my eyes and ears. I believe that really good music is not only heard, but felt. There has been some atmospheric music that has moved me to tears because it was so expressive and beautiful... Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Really timely lesson for me. I have spent years on learning the technical aspects of playing, learning songs, and more recently messing with pedals, but just today, literally as I was on my cool down after a morning training ride, a few minutes before the notification on this video, I decided my next priority would be to look for lessons on ambient playing and chords, looking to actually composing some pieces and recording them. When I noodle, I always wind up playing ambient style music. I'll sign up for the Masterclass just as soon as I finish paying out the last pedal I have on lay-by, damn Erupter fuzz. Starting on the free stuff today. Thanks Antoine. :)

I think this is the best "starter" lesson I watched on the topic of Ambient guitar. You know why? Because everyone can use these basic ideas to make an epic piece, without any problems or digging deep in channels and tutorials. The drone can be made by a synth, and a couple of string instruments play those two-note chords, and with a bit of creativity, even a beginner musician can make great pieces. Although I knew all you said in this video, I spent time on watching it, and I'll share the video with people who ask me "how to get started with making ambient music". Great Job!

You forgot the shimmer! Lol! So overused, but beautiful in occasional context. As always, Antoine, a thoughtful and helpful video. One thing I think about when playing ambient for the public (and not for other ambient musicians) is that the average listener doesn’t know what sounds and approaches are ordinary or overdone. They just hear it as beautiful. A common comment I get as an ambient street musician is that listeners tell me they can’t believe a guitar is making all of these beautiful sounds. So if we look at what you say in the context of comparing one’s playing with other ambient players on KZbin, you’re dead-on correct! 👏🏻 But consider the people who your music reaches outside of this community. They hear it as meditative, regardless of the approach. Myself, I find my ears need more non-diatonic harmony floating around and a melody that recurs against ever-shifting chords. We have to keep ourselves entertained too! ✌🏻
@AntoineMichaudGuitar

Great reflection! I agree with this. Something overused will always be new for someone in the world, at any time. We should keep that in mind also!

"so, the only thing you have to do is to put back your drone sound, put a lot of reverb on, and just play with those chords randomly all over the place, like this..." My man, this is the guitar lesson that I can do for sure, thanks.

The lesson was, in my opinion, very useful to the beginning guitar player wanting to play and not realizing how darn easy it is to start playing something beautiful and yet quite simple. Guys I have been learning so much more in extreme depth on Antoine's Master Class online courses. I am sharing that information to you without being asked to because if you want to really excel and become just as good as Antoine, the ambient guitar academy Master Class will get you there I swear it. It won't be long and I will be sharing my creations on KZbin as well. You're welcome! :D
