Still today uncharted 2 remains a great game. The level of detail naughty dog do put into their games is absolutely outstanding. I played all the tomb raider games, but with uncharted, there isn't 5 seconds without a new encounter, a new fighting sequence, a new puzzle, a new slice of the story... meanwhile, in tomb raider, we can spend a bunch of time walking in some empty area, for 5+ minutes. In uncharted one, I still remember the day I've bought it, after the plane crash sequence, we landed on an green, beautiful, ultra detailed island , and the game played that cgi sequence. And suddenly, I touch my dualshock3 controller, and realize i was able to control Drake, with that insane 3d scene moving in real time. I was shocked! The train sequence was just ONE of the hundreds of wow moments. The nepal village was much better. The reason why the train sequence was so hyped, it was because that entire moving train, with all the stuff going on at the same time, was just revolutionary. I dont understand why the stealth sequence in uncharted was so hard, and made you quit the game. All you had to do, was bringing the difficulty down a notch , even for only 4 or 5 minutes, and it was fine. Or taking 2 minutes to watch a youtube tutorial... I've done it with so many games, it shouldn't be a problem. The reality was, I think, you weren't really enjoying playing the game, and wanted to stop, and that stealth sequence just came at the right moment ;) Also, the latest tomb raider games became super grindy... i remember spending dozens of hours, just to farm a special outfit. Lol., regarding skyrim... I bought skyrim on the psn, for 50 bucks, because I wanted to spend tons of hours exploring the world (like mass effect, fallout4, etc), i downloaded it, installed it on my ps4 pro, all the graphics, textures, 3d objects, characters, everything looked so ugly, so blurred, so compressed, like a ps1 or n64 game, that it almost made my eyes bleed. No way I wound be playing it for over 300 hours... ! After playing around 3 hours, and having my eyes burn, I uninstalled that sucker, and will never go back. Unless bethesda releases some kind of photorealistic textures pack and update for Skyrim ps5, my 50 bucks are definitely lost.

I'm pretty sure all hardcore video game collectors have an overwhelming majority of games in their collection that they never finished... And a handful they never even played (I'm guilty of this). I guess here's my top 5 Nostalgic games I never finished: 1. Kingdom Hearts PS2: Replayed the game like 12 times in my childhood..... NEVER got past Tarzan's world. 2. Nightmare Before Christmas PS2: Couldn't figure out where to find the Hanging men and was too scared to play it as a kid. 3. Tomb Raider: Last Revelation PS1: This was the first video game I've ever played and never got past the tutorial when I was a kid... As I kept getting Lara Croft wet in the water on purpose and my Mom immediately ejected the disc and snapped it right in front of me (I was 5 years old). 4. Walace & Grommit: Project Zoo PS2: I couldn't figure out how to get out of the dark lava mine. 5. Giant Battles: Dragons DS: .....This is a repetitive touch turn base RPG and a shitty one at that. You get to play as 4 different elemental Dragons.... They all play exactly the same and all 4 of these dragons have the exact same levels and missions. You need to beat the game 4 times as all 4 dragons to get the good ending....... I only beat the game once and got halfway through as a different dragon until I realize I was just replaying the same missions, but with a different colored Dragon.

Hi pretty Pam!! How are you? Love your makeup and principally your beautiful smile ;-) About your experience with CastleVania: Symphony of the Night, I got a similar experience with CastleVania II: Simon's Quest. The fact that you get lost and, at the same time, must find the way to get where you want (in your case the Save Points, in my case the towns and the Save Points on them) turns out so frustrating that you don't want to turn back to the game anymore. Since the first times I played it and get lost in the game, didn't touch it again in several years until I got a magazine where there was a quick guide for finishing it. Then I discovered that with some clues of where to go, the challenge turns out more fair and more enjoyable. But pitifully even when I finished it, lost part of the feeling of doing it because the game had not the proper tools for being enjoyable by itself. Nowadays, still play CastleVania 1, 3 and 4, but 2 almost never, even when I could try to get the best endings. It's because the bad experience I think.

The Uncharted games were ruined for me the same way. I had played the Tomb Raider reboot first and, after that, Uncharted just paled in comparison. Man, my backlog of unfinished games is ridiculous. That's crazy, I had the same experience. A few years ago a buddy of mine gave me all of his old Xbox 360 games so I dusted off my 360 and played the Tomb Raider reboot and loved it. While I was playing it, I picked up the Uncharted Trilogy for PS4 for like $5 USD. Some time shortly after finishing Tomb Raider I started on Uncharted, and I thought it was really weak. The shooting didn't feel good, the story was not good, and everything about it felt like a big step down. I gave up on it right after the big (and stupid) twist is revealed, which I had seen coming since the beginning of the game. I have a friend who insists that Uncharted 2 and 3 are much better, must-play games, and maybe I will try them someday, but I'm not all that interested after playing the first one.
@gamerguy4254 жыл бұрын
that situation is so funny because it's like they've come full circle in ripping each other off. . Uncharted 1 felt HEAVILY similar and inspired by Tomb Raider Legend, which I held against it, but ultimately gave it a chance and liked it. then I played some of 3 and liked it even more, but when I played the Tomb Raider reboot I was like "jesus christ this is good but they completely neutered everything that separated TR from Uncharted and it's just a shameless Uncharted clone now with none of the original heart and soul" . I have never played a game that I agreed so much with the gameplay of but vehemently disagreed with its direction/story. stopped like 50-70% into it but that was more from completionphobia.

Chrono Trigger was a game that I missed when it first came out, due to being Australia, but I have played and beaten it a few times. I agree with your assessment of the characters. When I replayed the game a few years ago for a review, I felt like the protagonists weren't as fleshed out as I'd have liked them to be. I put this down to the fact that you could put anyone in your party, and then the others stayed at the End of Time. As such, there wasn't any opportunity for strong character development as the party members with you were just given little variations on dialogue and never really interacted directly with each other. Hah. I played Uncharted 2 for my channel as well, and I almost gave up because of a certain section right at the end which I couldn't seem to do before Nate automatically died. Eventually I did it, and produced the review. There have been a lot of games that I haven't finished playing, though. It's one of the main reasons I decided to start reviewing games, as it motivates me to actually complete them. In my case, some games were "reasonably finished" but not totally finished. A lot of MMOs have endless content, but as long as you finished the main quest, reached a high enough level, and gained enough achievements, you can reasonably say to yourself you finished it. Then there are games with no finish line at all, such as card games, sports games, pinball games, etc., which you can play forever. If you have put enough hours into such a game, you can say you have "finished" it.

A lot of things that nowadays have been improved or used a lot in recent games to the point is not special anymore. Yet for 11 yo me, it was the best thing ever created.

Years later I've tried to go back and do it over all the way through, but make it a couple of hours in, stop, and can't bring myself to continue from a save I pick up at a later time. Wonderful game though which is why it's so sought after (read: high-priced) and beloved. *insert 'Ain't nobody got time for that' meme* I did finish it ages ago, however. My game that fits this video though is 'Tales of Phantasia'. Beautiful game that I would have loved as a child with all the free time in the world to do JRPGs, but a proper english version wasn't localized. There are many versions now and, like 'Chrono Trigger', I've started up several playthroughs of the PS1 (100% fan translation patch; which I hear is best version) version over the years, but just never *insert Shia LeBeauf 'Just do it' meme* completed it.

I do like your eyeshadow look. Games I've never finished: Resident Evil 8 (I got to the very last part but quit because I felt it had become a whole another game and made absolutely no sense and did not respect the player at all), Alien ... Isolation? or something (the robot section got me so frustrated I just quit). I had never finished Tomb Raider 3 until the remasters was released, before I could not see well enough on the screen because of the dark PS1 version! :D

That was the glitchiest game I’ve ever played, and I’m sure it already had tons of patches before I picked it up.

But just because I love them so much I am savoring them, setting them aside while I work on my massive backlog for extended periods, then jumping back in aghain and again. Itr is like, they are so good, but they never end. I am finally on Bowser level of mario and I still have 2 divine beasts to beat in Zelda. Love them both, easily 10/10 games.

i tend to have a short attention span so..... i would say i don't finish about 90% or better of games i play. sometimes i will come back to play games later, but it is a regular thing for me to pick up a game for a few weeks at a time and then decide i want to play a different type of game. it all depends on my mood. sometimes i want to play survival games, sometimes rpgs, fighting with battle mechs, first person shooters, puzzles, and almost any other game genre i know of. my short attention span has caused me to sample a rather amazing variety of games. my Steam account has around 300 games in it and my wish list has another 300 that i sometimes browse when nothing in my library seems right. Oblivion is one of the few i have beaten and i really enjoyed all of the different plot lines including the main story. i liked Morrowind a lot but i never beat it partly because following and completing quests was not simple (although i kind of liked and respected how the game did ZERO hand holding), but mostly because of the endless swarms of cliff racers that brought travel down to a slow crawl. i wish they would do an updated version of Morrowind with better graphics, and a lot fewer cliff racers, but keep everything else exactly the same.

I don't blame ya for not finishing C:SotN. I was aimless like that at times with it, but more so with Bloodstained: RotN. I never got why the spell commands in SotN, weren't learned from attaining some kind of scrolls. Instead of accidentally stumbling upon them from random button pressing.

wooo your opinion on Uncharted is mine as well. I played Tomb Raider reboot first and then tried to get into Uncharted and just found it, frustrating and unremarkable. i did actually finish the 2nd game and i guess by the end i had some affection for it but the journey was rocky and the first game is pants at this point lol. Personally never finished Chrono Trigger not because i didnt enjoy it but because i made the mistake of trying to fight the final boss in the wrong time period and i was just not strong enough yet. SOTN is so great, can't remember why i dropped that myself. But i feel you on it being easy to get lost, one of those games that definitely benefits from being played with a walkthrough.

5 & 6 - Final Fantasy 6 & 7. I'm counting them together. I never finished either of them and not for a lack of trying. I probably started each of them on 4 or 5 different occasions. I love to the story in both of them, but the gameplay bores me to tears. 4. Horizon Zero Dawn - I wanted to like this, but I just couldn't care about Aloy or the people around her, other than maybe the old dude who raised her. I also didn't like the fact that I didn't have a lock-on system for melee fighting and could only swing around wildly. 3. Super Metroid - I got lost, stuck, and frustrated. Then I lost interest. This game is on my to-do list. 2. Dark Souls. I got to the bottom of Blight Town, on my way to fight Queelag, but got distracted by something and never got back to it. I moved on to Bloodborne though. That game is my jam. 1. Fallout 4. I put a couple hundred hours into the game and just stopped. I kept getting similar vibes to Skyrim, where the world is as vast as it is shallow, and it made me angry. I think Preston and the rest of the assholes in Sanctuary finally pushed me over the edge. None of what I did mattered. It was all pointless and stupid. After looking up the story beats I skipped on KZbin, I'm actually pretty glad I quit. Fallout 4's Boston can fuck right off. Bonus Entry - I couldn't finish Planescape Torment. That game is a painfully slow slog. Everyone is so tortured and I can only take so much self-flagellation when it's not my own.
@Cannotbetamed14 жыл бұрын
Fallout 4 was disappointing. It seemed alright at first but Preston and the constant repetitive quests he had for you got so old. I did end up just making a beeline for the end after a while.

You're missing out on #1 & 2. Truly classics. With CT, the DS port doesn't add a lot to the core experience. It kinda takes away from it because of the extra screen management. The original is recommended for first time plauers. With SotN, you were stuck on the chapel area. It's one of the more difficult areas of the game. You have to be prepared with extra potions because it's a very long area with a boss at the end. Hope that helps and you give those 2 another shot in the future!

Drinking wine to prep for the comment section? Good choice. love the video. :) I think Chrono Trigger, Castlevania SotN, and Uncharted 2 are all "products of their time", where newer games improved on their innovations. I'm sorry a bug killed your run of Elder Scrolls. Sadly bugs are a bethesda legacy at this point. Mods have fixed what should never have been broken, but that responsibility should never be on the player.
@Cannotbetamed14 жыл бұрын
I’m generally pretty tolerant of bugs and smaller glitches, but crashing just sucks.
@GameFreak4Ever4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the mention. I only touched on Chrono Trigger a little bit. Castlevania SOTN is a game you have to dedicate yourself to. I'm big about games that lack direction. I got pretty far in SOTN and flipped the castle but I some how deleted the file. lol "Bullet spongy" that term cracked me up. One of the main reasons I'm not into shooters. I've beat all the Uncharted games except the one on the PS Vita. (the controls and many other things) That's another genre I am not a big fan of is stealth games. I will probably never complete a Metal Solid game for that reason or Hitman or Deux title. Recore is one of those titles for me that I put in about 75% of the work. I would come home ready to knock out another section. I like the way you explained it. it was a bad decision made with not letting you progress without a certain amount of orbs. On top of things the game didn't make it easy to obtain those orbs. Much like you I tapped out.

SOTN is one of those games where you either love it or you don't. A lot like Super Metroid. Myself personally I own both the Ps1 and Saturn versions. I'm on the love it side but it's not for everyone. Chrono Trigger is one I replayed earlier this year after almost 20 years. I still enjoyed it, but I realized it didn't grab me like it used to. It's not because it's old because I played Final Fantasy 3/6 not long ago and 100 percent into that same as when it was released but Chrono Trigger didn't do it for me the same way and I found myself getting lost and forgetting where I was and needed to go after not playing for a week at times so I completely understand your frustration with it.

You can get the Game of the Year edition with all DLC (except horse armor, lolz) on Xbox for dirt cheap. Plus it now has FPS boost and looks and plays fantastic on Xbox One or Series X. The Uncharteds, I think you hit the nail on the head. Pretty much had to be there. There's no need to feel guilt or remorse for not 'completing' story-driven games. Chances are, there's something in the story that just doesn't motivate the player to continue. I reflected on story-driven games that did get me to the conclusion and what I discovered was: sometimes the characters' back story was so compelling, I just had to know, "What happens next?". Sometimes I marveled at how the each of the characters changed; how the characters grew stronger against bigger threats. Sometimes, searching for secrets within the environment brought me to the end of the story. The story-driven games where I lost interest were the ones that didn't present any surprises, or interesting challenges or didn't change the characters in a way that allowed the player to progress. I don't mind restarting games, at all, especially if I missed an important detail b/c I enjoy the challenge but I don't play story-driven games that feel as if at work; I read a lot of gamer's comments that describe their gaming sessions as if they're clocking in at work, "I put in over X hours and..." Who counts their hours???

At least the main story" But every time I had a break from the game for a few days or weeks, I couldn't get back into it. To much stuff to remember. What I did and where I was going, where and who are the characters I've interacted with, the insane amount of character stats and spells, and so on. The game is so immersive, I love it. It’s the most infuriating and boring thing that generally stops my interest dead in its tracks.Crazy though that you say all of the things about uncharted 2 that I would say about tomb raider. Wow, you really did not get far in Uncharted 2 at all, which is a shame. I agree about the start of it, the stealth section can be off putting, but the rest of the game does not involve needing to do that really. Uncharted 2's story and characters are very interesting and the character interactions really make the game. A lot more interesting than the modern Tomb Raider cast of characters honestly. I do think it is worth retrying and getting past the stealth part. I agree, Uncharted 1 is very dated, Amy Hennig herself said its a very basic game in comparison to the others. As for Elder Scrolls - I played Skyrim. But a glitch made it so the main story would not progress. So I never finished it.

Totally agree. It`s a matter of taste and how much you warm up to the protagonist. Personally I felt more attached to Nathan Drake than Lara Croft. Especially the side characters (Sully, Elena) in the Uncharted series are more likeable than the Tomb Raider equivalents in my book. And the train set piece is still awesome. And yes, I´m one of those who think that Uncharted 2 is the crown jewel of the Uncharted series.
