My daughter read The Hobbit to her newborn every night for a month. He's completed 38 books on his Goodreads page-and he's only two months old. He loves being read to and listening to our voices-it doesn't matter that he can't understand the stories.

My 4wk old has already hit all the 3mo milestones and is going right for the 6mo ones! Gosh they grow up so fast! He's big, too. I don't have to worry about him much. He doesn't fuss hardly at all, sleeps through the night on his own, and if he wakes up by himself will just chill in his crib, babbling away and sucking his thumb!

@claudia73472 I was blessed with an angel of a baby. He's nearly 5 months now and taking a nap as we speak. From about the 2nd week, when it seemed like he was aware and absorbing, I would do "day mode" and "night mode". Lights and sounds and playtime during the day. Lots of naps offered. At night, low lights, low sound, no playing. Just eating and sleeping. We made night boring, and do a bedtime routine every night to signals the start of "boring sleepy time".
@valeriaswanne
@valeriaswanne 25 күн бұрын
@claudia73472 there are still hiccups from time to time. The 4mo regression happened at 3 months for us. That went on for about 3 weeks. Sometimes he's very clingy and only wants to sleep next to mommy. I've got an extra bed in his room to make that happen. I don't care about the feed to sleep association either, it's fine for us.

@@valeriaswanneyour baby sounds like an angel indeed! Happy for you ! :), how do you unwind at nighttime with baby, I struggle with that when it's late and they don't want to sleep
@valeriaswanne
@valeriaswanne 22 күн бұрын
@ImenBen12 We've had a routine for a long time, and use the wake windows (more about that on her channel) that work for us. At 8pm we go into "night mode". Around 8:30-9pm (or after he's been up for 2.5-3hrs) he gets a bath (2-3x/week) then I put him in his jammies. We have a bedtime story in the rocking chair, and then I let him nurse to sleep in the dark. Once he's sleeping, I set him down in his pre-warmed crib. We have a noise maker as well. I sleep far enough away that if he's fussing gently, I won't wake up, but if really starts crying, I can go to him. Usually he goes back to sleep on his own, but every now and then he'll need to be changed and some cuddles to get back down. It's pretty similar for naptime, where I take him to the rocking chair in a dark, quiet room. I watched a lot of the videos from this channel and it really helped. The pre-warmed crib was the biggest game changer.

I don't know why I'm even here. I let myself get pressured by my partner an his morher to get an abortion 9 days ago at almost 14 weeks. I can't stop crying. Every day I can still hear the little heartbeat and I still see my little one move it's arms and legs on the last ultrasound I had. I will never forgive myself for killing my baby.

I'm so sorry my dear... I wish that you had more positive support for your baby, and for yourself. I wish that your partner and his mother weren't so self-focused. You made a decision in fear, and I bet you were conveniced by them as they took advantage of your vulnerabilities... Take time to grieve, seek a good counselor or mentor. And even if you may not be religious, but many times in scripture/Bible it refers to unborn babies that die are taken to heaven by Jesus. He has your little one in his loving comfort.

I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot image the pain and sadness you are going through right now. If you can and you want to, find someone you trust to talk to (this might be someone you know or someone you don't like a counsellor). You don't have to go through this on your own. I am thinking of you ❤️

Our hearts break with you and I pray that you find the support system and counseling you need for healing. And most importantly that you find forgiveness in Christ, who loves you so dearly because YOU are HIS child! You are not alone. You are not unforgivable. You are loved. I hope you share your story with others when you are ready so that they may learn from you and find hope in their own trials. Hugs! ❤️

I love baby "games"! 😁 With my boy and now our girl we also often do textured and visual games (and obviously fully supervised at all times!) with simple house hold stuff! Wrinkly baking paper! A blown up, strong plastic zip bag with dried pasta to hold while on their back. A simple light string above them in a semi dark room. Or even just their night light egg! Different textured blankets or towels to touch (knitted, silk, etc) I once even hung a clean, bright pink bath scrunchie on his play mat to grab and pull! Or I lay them under their playmat with the cross bows. And lay a patterned blanket or thin cloth or scarf on top of the cross part for them to look and grab the sidesp. I've got this very wide, thin see through blue scarf with white butterflies. They both loved that one! Obviously all of these need to be 200% supervised and NEVER leave them alone with any of these items!

I've done all of these things with my now almost 3 mo from the beginning (except tummy time much before 6 weeks, he /really/ hated it and was quite colicky. Luckily it hasn't set him back at all as he was able to hold his head up pretty well since birth) And he has met all milestones very early so far, even rolling over both ways and smiling/giggling, grabbing objects and he really enjoys books now too. I do wonder if "baby talk" is detrimental to them. I do it a lot without even meaning to haha. Trying not to so much.

Thank you for the video, I always look forward to your new videos as they are super helpful!! I was wondering what you think about battery operated toys as opposed to other toys for babies? I was wondering specifically if they are bad for them/their attention span/ their creativity, as they are sort of just pressing buttons. I know they can definitely grab a baby's attention and be entertaining, but I was wondering if they are good for them? So far the only one we have is a walker with an activity panel. Thanks! 😊

Hi! I am actually releasing a video on this topic next week. I like battery operated toys as they can be helpful for developing fine and gross motor skills, as well as visual skills. Also if you talk to your little one while they play with them it can promote language development. What's more important is giving your little one a variety of toys (or baby safe household items😂) to play with. I hope that helps!

I absolutely love your videos and find them very helpful! I have a 9-week-old that seems to be on track (milestone wise) but she is incredibly fussy. One second she's smiling wide but then she flips to a sour mood. It's difficult to do much with her. She detests tummy time and screams in rage during. She gets overwhelmed quickly with anything new (even to a point of rapid breaths) but she gets bored even faster with the same things. I try reading to her and it only lasts about 2 mins before she starts growling and crying. She also refuses to hold any toys in her hands. Is her behavior a red flag of something serious, am I doing something wrong, or is it just the way she is? She is very difficult to comfort and also to keep entertained. I'm at a loss and scared she will fall behind in crucial skills because of it. Her doctor didn't think there's anything to worry about at her last checkup and he didn't offer any advice regarding her behavior.
