The electronic park break sadly failed on my Laguna 2 Privilege and at the time the repair cost would have exceeded the value of the car which was a real Shane as its in my top two or three cars I've ever owned. When the Vel Satis was on sale I had a three door Mégane 2 and that and the Avantime shares similar styling elements. I was lucky enough to sit in a 3.0 dci V6 Vel.Satis recently and a few month ago I reviewed a Safrane 2.5 executive. I've been a Renault fan for many years. Do you remember how at the time Renault had selected dealership's for the Vel Satis and Avantime models? It was almost like a sub brand but without a change a branding. Things like 48hr test drives were available too.

Sorry to hear this, that is a shame, and I'm not looking forward to that day. My Vel Satis has become a lifer which means I'll never sell it so I ought to be prepared for such failures! The 2nd Laguna's were such nice cars, great design inside and out, very different character I think to the Vel Satis. I saw recently you uploaded a Safrane video, I'll check it out tomorrow! Would be great to get a Safrane and Vel Satis together to compare.. I have a Safrane Biturbo on my bucket list if I can ever afford one, find one, and then import one! I love Renault, but for me the late 90s and early 00s were when they were on top form, in terms of design, quality, technology and the wide variety of models they offered! Thanks for watching :)

@@carmanick The Bi turbo is incredibly rare. Yes by the late 90's Renault were on top of their game but sadly the cars changed and for a while we're not the cars I had fallen in love with. I'm currently really enjoying my facelift mk1 Mégane coupe.

I never realised the glass on rear lifts up with the boot the way it does!

Yeah the tailgate is pretty wild, wrap around. It's actually sheet moulded plastic (so really light), which was pretty advanced at the time . Many cars have plastic/SMC tailgates now

excellent car.... the only engine this car needs is a 3.5v6. very good handling, excellent sound insulation and comfort. very very good quality.😍😍

Haha glad you agree! Oh the 3.5 V6 would be great to have but I have the 2.0T. I wanted something better on fuel as my Avantime is a V6... I completely agree, it's very refined, comfortable and well built! The engine is a little loud but I think the V6 will be quieter as it doesn't need to work so hard! @@microfanka that's brilliant. Im glad there is one in Serbia, they seem quite rare everywhere! What colour is your Vel Satis and how long have you owned it? I think the 2.0 engine does well in the Vel Satis despite being the smallest engine

When the Cybertruck came out, it reminds me of the Vel Satis concept, they both looked odd and kind of grows on you. Unfortunately the Vel Satis production model looks dumbed down and lacks elegance compared to Mercedes C-Class or BMW 3 Series while the Cybertruck is much closer to the concept.

The Vel Satis concept was quite quirky, but it sort of previewed both the Avantime and the Vel Satis (before the Coupespace concept). The Vel Satis concept sort of had the front design ethos of the production VS, but the back of the Avantime. Perhaps the better comparison of the cybertruck would eb the Coupespace concept that became the Avantime? Idont think many thought that it would make production, and only few things externally were changed! The cybertruck is wild, hard to believe they managed to get it through legal requirements/regulations and to production. You have to respect the effort and stubbornness of Tesla!
